After the x3600h review I was hoping the 2020 models would have similar results as the disconnected front channels, especially in pre-amp mode. Oh well, hopes dashed.
Thank you for testing preamp mode too.

To be clear, the amp assign for Front Left and Right did make an improvement. Just not as much as it did on 3600H. This mode of shutting everything off is redundant for 2-channel mode and hence the reason it didn't make a difference. I had already assigned out the front left and right. After the x3600h review I was hoping the 2020 models would have similar results as the disconnected front channels, especially in pre-amp mode. I think someone already has a 6014 on the way....@amirm
It's surprising that you haven't had the opportunity to recently test any of the cousin Marantz AVRs. It would be interesting to know how equivalent SR series AVRs would compare for SINAD and DAC performance etc to both the Denon AVR-X3600H and the X4700H units. Let's hope someone will be willing to eventually send them to you.
An SR6014 is coming for testing.@amirm

Because you're tired of seeing SOTA Hypex designs?I don't agree with this, AVRs are the only electronics reviews I even read anymore.

I have already brought the unit down to pack and ship. My back is killing me and I can't lift heavy things back and forth anymore (had to get my wife to carry it down). I don't know that I can add a ton of value with listening test anyway given the effort.@amirm, For completeness, can you listen to the X4700h on your own setup for some subjective thoughts?

ie, it's a receiver, JOATMON, a noise box
Usually they have very high impedance as they simply tap into the amplifier with an inline resistor. That makes them anemic on high impedance headphones and changes their frequency response.
