Denon AVR-X8500H AVR Review

Thank you I'm kind of resigned at the moment.. seems like a potential motherboard issue in my uneducated mind. I'm also going to reach out to denon... I don't know how good they are at responding to things like this.
Is it still under warranty? So full reset didn't change anything?

So far so good.. looks like maybe the reset calmed everything down. I will be honest I have been absolutely bombarding the unit with multi eqx updates, tests, etc .. I just got a pair of F226Be and I'm dialing them in... Maybe it just needed a break to reset.

Sometimes they're just a bit buggy and a reset is in order is the way I look at it. OTOH a fresh start with new gear is a good thing, too.

Even though I got an amazing price on the F226Be it was very disturbing to think that I would have to buy another AVR/AVM at the same moment. Holding my breath but everything is looking okay right now.

Hoprefully just a glitch remedied by the reset. Nice speakers!

The AVR unit is ice cold there is no heat coming out of it at all... Which is what I expect when I'm running outboard amps...dammit.

Damn...glitched again for the first time after running for 3 hours.
I'd think it's time for someone who can troubleshoot the electronics and effect a repair if needed (maybe a Denon authorized facility?)

I'd not think it's particularly heat, could be a bad board or solder connection....

It's not on start-up. It happened randomly well after start-up. It "looks" like things have stabilized now that I've moved a number of electronics and my internet modem off of the circuit.

I missed this. I have read about cable modems have abnormal voltages on the coax. Something to check….

What do you have exactly plugged in? Does it fail if you run the internal amps? Maybe something with the Adcom is failing and it is triggering a protection circuit on the pre out.

Crap...It happened again. Oh man...I paid $3k for that AVR less than a year ago...Will still get an electrician out. Is this really a sign of a dying AVR?
I think it is the protective cct doing this to you. Did any blinking light show up? Have you check the fault history? If it is the protective cct., the fault history will tell you what triggered it.

Thanks Peng. How do I check the fault history? I tried looking in the manual but "default" overloaded results

bo_knows said would send you something so you are all set.

I will try to dig into that today. BTW, I don't see a "protect" message, it just reboots randomly and picks right back up where it left off.

That may be a good sign. If you were right there when that happened, did you hear any relay ""clicks"? I am hoping it may be a bad relay, or a deterirating solder joint, or a bad connection.

As a test, have you tried running a quality extension cord to the 8500 and plugging it into another circuit with little on it? If it still has the issue you will know it's not an overload on the home theatre circuit.
I have an electrician coming today I think there is an issue with the circuit, my Alexa is randomly rebooting as well so I now don't think it is just the Denon

Oh it definitely clicks and quite loud. I think I have a problem with the circuit, the electrician should be able to troubleshoot this later today.

Electrician came over, looks like circuit breaker had an issue. Swapped it out and things are looking much more stable and I don't think damage was done. Thank you all for all of the ideas! What a relief. He also measured the draw and it was maybe 2.8 amps on a 20 amp circuit so I am nowhere near overloading that circuit even with lots of purifi amps and subwoofers. That was nice to see.

Hope that was the issue -- what a relief! Guess it could pay to try potentially "faulty" components out on a totally different house circuit before assuming the worst.
