Master "deals" (massdrop, ebay, Amazon, etc.) Thread on Audio Product Sales

Business sites are saying not to expect good electronics deals on prime day due to the chip shortage.

Apple started their back to school promo (I’m a teacher so I also qualify):
https://www.apple.com/us-hed/shop/back-to-school

Free AirPods.
+$40 for wireless charging case.
+$90 (total) for AirPods Pro.

I ordered a MacBook Air last week, used their chat service and they added the Pro’s to my order (cost auto applied to my card).

The Pro measures decently, all else considering:

They also have a feature that auto-calibrates the sound based on your ear shape. Not sure if a toggle-able setting, would be interesting to see measurements of on/off if so.

They also do head tracking for spatial audio as well.

I added macrumors to my RSS feed a week or so ago, I see lots of promo offers and discounts, especially at Amazon. The new iPad Pro, 13"...

Amazon has the Hidizs S9 and S9 Pro on sale for $95.99 and $103.99 respectively. I know that's not much less than the prices from Chinese online retailers, but if you're in the U.S., you'll get it faster, and it's easier to return it if you don't like it.

Update: they've already sold out of both, but they're still taking orders at the Prime Day prices.

Don't forget that great vendors like Apos Audio price match, (typically don't charge tax and offer extended warranties) in case you want to avoid the mega conglomerates that don't pay much taxes themselves.

HIFIMAN HE400S $169.99 Amazon Prime Day
How does it compare to the HE400I?

Oratory measured the 400i (2020) / 4XX / Sundara (2020):

400i (2020) is the worst.
4XX & Sundara (2020) are similar, with the 4XX having slightly more sub bass but slightly more erratic in 2-5kHz region.

Edit: @solderdude measured the 400S & 400i (2016):

Here is the Oratory chart above but with 400i (2016) instead of 2020:

400S will have 0 bass, but like the Sundara it fills in the 2kHz dip the rest have and the slightly dulls the 3kHz rise.

Looks like the <$200 4XX and the Sundara are the best choices.
