The nurse said I'd be at full immunity in about 2 weeks. It will be so nice to go to the store and not feel so nervous about the guy behind me not social distancing.
I'd hate to dispute a health care professional but the comment on "full immunity" scared me. I'd recommend you do some google background on the shots and what results you can expect. I'd hate to see you drop all protective measures based on that immune comment.

I have a severe allergic reaction to shellfish. I'll have to wait & see. It's not down to my age group anyway.
And my wife has COPD and is allergic to 70% of everything, so the shots are potentially deadly to us.

If I have understood it correctly the AstraZeneca vaccine is a traditional type and people allergic to egg may/will be effected.
One of my granddaughters has a strong milk allergy (the vapour from a frothing machine in a cafe could kill her, and a egg allergy so we have to be careful there.
The Pfizer is genetically engineered and a newer technology and here in the UK there have been (a very, very few) unexpected severe reactions so anybody getting it has to stay around for 15 minutes as a precaution.
My AZ was quick and sore arm for a day.
I have just been into a supermarket fro the second time in a year - I used to go daily.

My son in law has severe asthma and the same for him.
I was worried for him when I heard about Covid but presumably Asthmatics aren't at very serious risk or I am sure he would have been called for a vaccine and hasn't been, so I assume it isn't an idiot but a medical decision based on data.
Severe asthma is listed as a priority for the UK.

I don't know where the line for severe is being drawn, sounds like a GP gets to decide, he might want to phone his GP and check he is flagged correctly.

Three members of our immediate family got it - two were hospitalized for almost a week, and the third stayed out of the hospital but was sick for six weeks and still experiencing symptoms - so it's definitely not something to mess with.

My husband and I both got Pfizer last week, expecting the second dose in a couple of weeks.
But do you have any drinking water?

Hope you came through this mini ice age in decent shape.

Actually, hoping to get our water back on today ;) Electricity out cold (literally) for over 50 hours with temperature below zero was a bit of a concern :(

My wife is a massage therapist in Guam (70% of allergies she has been tested for [very many] she is allergic to and has been diagnosed as having COPD [but not shellfish/iodine]), My son (age 31, only has a shelfish/iodine allergy, just like me) is in China (soccer coach for school children) and I (with only a shellfish/iodine allergy) am on James Island, SC to help take care of my 87 year old mother (who has various low level allergies) . So we have various wrong headed politicized strategies to deal with.

A bit off-topic perhaps.

I and do nasal infiltrations when I get home from supermarkets or malls (even if I was wearing a mask, even if I am vaccinated). My kid is also washing his hands, face and the inside of his nose every time he gets back from the school (there is a dedicated spray for this with marine salt water).

COVID-19 is firstly multiplying inside our nose and sinuses, then later is getting into our lungs, so cleaning hands, face and the nose when we got home is the first line of defence for us in the first few hours after getting a virus.
ENT specialist say that though nasal infiltration is usually recommended, it is NOT during Covid as your filtration may go directly in your lungs.
So if infected you may well accelerate the spread !

To whom it may concern.
That makes sense. But I am immunosupressed and I need to do nasal rinsing 2-4 times a day to be able to breathe through my nose. Got a heavy sinusitis once that became kind of chronic . Got rid of the Pseudomonas but still need 3.5% saltwater flushing several times a day too keep the snot colonies down. 3.5% saltwater is the best treatment , and some white Vaseline in a qtip or sesame oil drops to treat dryness. You can make your own saltwater, add sea salt to 0.9% isotonic saltwater from pharmacy , or boil your own water and add 35 gram sea salt and one teaspoon of Natron/baking soda (sodium bi carbonate NaHCO3 ) in one liter water.
The 3.5% saltwater (0.9%is not as good) changed my life and made me able to breathe and also cured a tinnitus problem -liquid in inner ear-

Makes sense if it's not well done, thanks for sharing, but keeping the viruses inside the nose means they will multiply and spread to the lungs in few days anyway, while cleaning the nose correctly with marine salt-water based could prevent viruses spreading inside the body. I'm doing nasal infiltration since about one year and never got water into my lungs, sometimes maybe into my mouth.

I've heard from a previously infected person with COVID that doctors told him he got the infection inside his sinuses, then I made a connection with cleaning the nose a bit better than usual. It's all about the viral quantity we are inhaling, more we get more we are prone to get a viral disease.

Meanwhile some sites are saying that could help somehow: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-53170734 and https://www.ed.ac.uk/usher/news-events/news-2020/salt-water-solution-could-treat-covid-19-symptoms, some others that don't: https://www.who.int/emergencies/dis...qrhBzYoQSYvagVU3_TdhIjzsBoCFNIQAvD_BwE#saline. What's important here is to do our best to stay safe and remain healthy!

NO WAY.... I haven't taken any medication since 1989 and I'm 69, ditto for my wife who is 66.
I had skin cancer "malignant melanoma" on my left arm in 1997 but was operated in time.

Ah, France, the world capital of vaccination scepticism.
How are the rest of us going to stop the spread? Ban French people from visiting our countries?
Not accusing you of doing so, but people shouldn't conflate lack of faith in the vaccination principle and lack of (blind) trust in the various governments and/or the pharmaceutical industry.

How are you doing nasal infiltration? With "neti pot" or is this something else?

I had my first one last week.
I had a phone call from my local NHS doctor's surgery the week before asking me if 2:42pm next Thursday was OK. It is a 10 minute walk from my house, I arrived 5 mins before time and within seconds of 2:42 I was going through a questionaire with my doctor in a marquee behind the surgery then the AstraZeneca jab. No side effects but I know those having the Pfizer get a 15 minute observation period following a tiny number of bad reactions.
I was told I would be contacted in 11 weeks to come for a second dose.
I didn't hesitate, the data shows the virus is much, much more contagious than flu and whilst some people have no symptoms some die but there are the many potential awful life changing long term effects that concerned me most.

Same contact scenario for me, two weeks ago now. AstraZenenca also, and I felt pretty rough that night, but the worst thing was the tinnitus - roaring and ringing - hope that's not what is awaiting me in the future! The only time I've ever experienced that before was after a Blue Oyster Cult concert I got talked into attending, many, many years ago.

I just conveyed you the message I heard from several ENT specialists.
Honestly, I'm doing Jala Neti since around 4 years and Covid won't stopping me doing so.
But I rather do it first thing in the morning ( before going out).

Unless you count on herd-immunity, which was another 72 pages' thread -
I don't see how you can escape being vaccinated if you wish to travel abroad.
Not even talking about attending restaurants, concerts aso like some already enforced it.

It's a new Era, life and habits, we will have to integrate that fact.
