This one was hopefully not so tiny as are the pins of SMD SOIC packages, however, I admit that my 68 years old eyes are not what they used to be ;).
At 73 I need a magnifying glass to go pee.

Nothing is on the workbench, I'm done for now. Everything in the house works. Although I should still fix a key on my wife's piano, which has too soft a touch. I already have the spare parts here, but don't feel like it.

Oh yes, one of my Beebox computers that I use for audio was dead. It could not be switched on any more. It was the CMOS battery, as I soon found out. But I also had to erase the memory. You can't get to that easily, you have to take the whole box apart. For modern miniaturized electronic devices, you really need watchmaker's hands and sometimes a magnifying glass.

This was my 'workbench' on Wednesday, doing brakes before a now-postponed road trip to see a friend. Actually, part of it really was on the workbench (second pic). 'Cause cloning data from a hard drive to an SSD is part of vehicle maintenance now.

That could spoil my fun. Fortunately, the vintage sports cars I used to like to tinker with didn't have that yet. I also don't have a modern electric car yet.

An Elizabethan (that's the make, not the age) Major tape recorder from 1960. Repairing it for the Roy Snelling Museum as it had lots of parts missing, and needs a fair amount of TLC. The cardboard stops the electronics chassis shorting to the deck metalwork whilst I'm working on it. Nice Collaro Studio deck, three speeds, three motors, but cheap heads.

I can't complain - aside from a blown strut from a car-eating pothole I've had no trouble with it. This was preventative maintenance as people have been reporting drive failures and the PCM unit is coded to the car. Porsche wants around $4K to fix (replace) it and indpedent repair is still quite pricey and not guaranteed. The unit doesn't even need to be removed from the car to get the drive out, but I had to replace a damaged wifi antenna from an aftermarket board I installed to give me Car Play/Android Auto.

Salyut-S film camera, circa 1979. Copper-colored foil is the focal-plane shutter, which had failed. At bottom left are the fabric ribbons which were the immediate cause. I've already completed work on the 90/2.8 Vega-19B lens, replacing old lubricants, and doing a cosmetic freshening-up of the exterior. Bottom right: Marks left by someone's errant spanner wrench (not mine).
