Hi, I just tried that and the popping when switching between tracks and as well as random popping stopped. However, the popping when Windows boot up or reboot is still present; so at least it is now similar to USB 1.1 mode in terms of less popping. Switching to Optical however eliminates any popping entirely.
Thanks for the read up, I will see if the replacement unit will eliminate the popping entirely on USB 2.0 mode, if not I will just use Optical...since I love the sound of this DAC.
DO100 my third after Topping e50 and smsl d300 china DAC and I like it most of these three. No issues as for now. No dropouts from LG tv via toslink as with e50, no clamps and crackling as with D300. Full size XLR with Bluetooth, $190$ on AliExpress - highly recomend. Can't say anything about sound difference, looks like they all sound the same. Earlier thought that D300 has warmer sound, but after trying some level matched samples I think that it was becase of bias.
Good afternoon, tell me please, knowledgeable people, can anyone test or can objectively assume whether "SMSL DO100" in conjunction with "SMSL HO100" will sound better than "Topping DX5" or "Topping DX7" ?
This is a review and detailed measurements of the Topping DX5 balanced stereo DAC and (unbalanced) headphone amplifier. It was sent to me by the company and costs US $449. As you see the industrial design is all new. I like the large display and the feel of the volume control which is much...
This is a review, detailed measurements and listening tests of Topping DX7 Pro+. It was sent to me by the company and costs US $699. As you see, the DX7 Pro+ sports the newer look of some Topping products. I did not care for it much before but it is growing on me. :) Three different headphone...
This is a review and detailed measurements of the SMSL HO100 balanced (input) stereo headphone amplifier. It was sent to me by Aoshida Audio and costs US $149. The HO100 matches its companion DO100 DAC. Switches feel nice and so does the volume control. While 4.4mm penticon connector is...
This is a review and detailed measurements of the AOSHIDA SMSL C200 balanced DAC and headphone amplifier. It costs US $210. The unit looks attractive enough for a desktop product. The LED is function but sadly displays the sample rate rather than volume (until you change that). Navigating the...
XLR outputs suddenly stopped working on my DO100 DAC, tried with different inputs (BT, USB). RCAs are still working though. Does this device need a reset or the XLR outputs were already busted?

Have you turned it off then unplugged it , plug back in then held volume knob in when switching on. It happened to me once. Been good ever since, good luck!

Thanks for this, tried it and it displayed 001 at startup, looks like it has been reset. Although I only hear popping sound on XLR outputs and still not yet fixed.
When I play music from amazon music it says track quality: 24 bit/192 khz, device capability: 24 bit 44 khz, currently playing at: 16bit, 44 khz. I think the Do100 is capable of playing at 24 bit/192 khz - what do I have to change in the settings to get the track to play at the highest quality possible?

What are you using for playback? Is it a pc, phone or streamer?
If playing back on a PC you need to go into the device settings (right click on the speaker symbol on your task bar) and there will be a drop down box with available sampling rates/bit depth. Choose the highest one.
If on a phone/tablet you may need to adjust your playback settings in the Amazon app. Go into settings and check you have streaming quality set to 'best available'
I have owned the DO100 now for a few days. I am pretty impressed with its performance and features. I am coming from a six year old Modi Multibit. My fear was that the DO100 would be sharp and glaring but it is very natural and smooth. Detail is great, imaging is great. I appreciate the BT input. I am very pleased.
Has anyone compared this with the SMSL D300? The D300 is more expensive but the DO100 seems to have better measurements. I am looking for Toppings E50 most fierce competitor.
The seller said that I can return the item back to China, but the shipping of the item costs a 3rd of the item's cost.
So I have no choice but to open it.
Prior to the XLR getting busted, there is a huge popping sound everytime the sound track/sample rate or any other setting is getting changed, I found that one of the XLR cable that I bought online has a wiring reverse on ground pin and cold pin, so after I corrected it, the huge popping sound is gone. But after a couple of days, the sound on the XLR outs went out, and only a soft popping sound can be heard on the right ch XLR, when the cables are being connected.
So I opened the unit and found a burnt IC on the right XLR. According to this thread, the IC is SGM3710.
After removing the burnt IC (which is very difficult, looks like the IC is glued on the PCB), the left ch XLR also worked, and the opamp output going to right XLR with the burnt IC is working again.
Can't find replacement IC, putting a jumper wire might introduce more popping problems.
I've bought and returned two DO100s in a row, due to this blip problem on Macs. One had it worse than the other. Giving up until more Mac users (if any) can verify proper functionality. This product otherwise was fantastic... I was reading in another thread that SMSL doesn't recognize this as an issue, despite it impacting a number of models :-(
