Nice performance, but it is worth noting that the price of €1490 is before taxes/vat, if you're in EU it will cost €1743.

3486 EUROS with European taxes for the pair ... who says better to equal performance?

This is what the High End "church" would call "reference class".

The only things that would make me hesitate, if I were to buy it, are
  • the red front panel
  • serious in-house competition (2-channel with a bit less power, and as such for half the price, and with a black front panel)

Really looks nice. All these Purifi based amps will measure right at the top of the performance provided the assembler doesn't get too cute with the buffer boards. Been living with my hand assembled version of the Eval 1 for a solid year, and it's just about the most trouble free component I've ever owned. Never calls attentin to itself, but it's in not in Boxem's nice red case. Very neat internal layout, too. Looks like he's using an SMPS1200 A 400 for the supply which is generous for mono.

more than twice the price for a few extra watts is wild.
Well, when we reach this level of performance, you have to expect diminishing returns to hit hard. ;)

Also, while I like Audiophonics amps, that I should have recommended a thousand times by now, BoXem build quality is on another level.

It's orange, really. ;)

Do i remember well if the advantage of this modules was the handling of high currents (for low impedance speakers)??
Excuse me if this is not correct, but i think to remember a conversation in those lines here in the forum.

PS: thanks for the review, now i know what will be my end game when i have a big house with big speakers :D

If you are in Europe, and purchase with shipping, your final price will vary with your country, since each country has its own VAT rate (and law says the destination country VAT is to be applied, AFAIK)

You are correct. ET7040SA does have no real advantage over ET400A, except for low impedance loads.
I’ve also read this on the forum, I think people with difficult speakers are prepared to pay , alternative big mono blocks from other sources are very very expensive.

And the colour , I think you can opt for black or orange on all boxes amps , so you can have it in black if you whish.

Re votes I think we have some trolls on permanent residency. They vote poor on this and great on expensive mains cables :) I don’t know for sure , but some mod would be able to check some dB to figure this out :D

Well, the audiophonics versions, with purifi modules are way cheaper ... so you pay the extra money only for the aluminium box ... no extra value going to boxem
