What would you do, if you had an virtually unlimited amount of money and wanted the (scientifically) very best neutral, audio experience in your big mansion? Who would you trust? Would you pay for own measurements?

First I'd sell the mansion, because no way in hell am I going to waste money on the utility bills for a pointless building like that.
Then I'd get one or more of the subsidiaries of my company to do the whole thing. Hopefully I would have made my fortune from extensive R&D into cheap effective audio solutions for a wide range of market segments (fat chance), so it should be a breeze :D

If I had made my fortune in the more traditional way through short selling and tax evasion, I'd probably contact Anthony Grimani and take it from there.

I bet these would sound better than most uber expensive audiophile speakers (not that they're cheap at all)View attachment 162331View attachment 162328

I have listened to the bottom ones a couple of times here https://www.glivelab.fi/tampere/info/. It's a music club that was designed by Genelec in the city I live in. I thought I knew what good punchy bass sounds like before the gig started. I couldn't have been more wrong..

The music only played through a stereo pair of those but the venue had like 100 speakers all over the ceiling. I wonder how do they use the other ones?

edit: I just noticed the venue won an award for the best concert hall in the world last year. I didn't even know that. Makes it even more impressive. https://www.europejazz.net/news/g-livelab-chosen-best-concert-hall-mondodr-awards

Looks like they also have a row of subwoofers (10 of them?) tucked away up there. 7380A?

If they were also playing, that might account for some of the punchy bass? :)

I’ve been to several normal suburban homes with stereo systems (and home theaters) that cost more than the home was worth. I personally don’t understand it.

I totally understand spending crazy money on an audio system. It makes sense to spend your time and money on the things that bring you the greatest joy. I would probably buy a pair of Focal Grande Utopia's given the chance along with some nice looking amplifiers. I find pleasure in well built and nice looking gear. I will not make any pronouncements about the sound being superior because of the price though

Does this mean I can DIY a pair of MBL speakers on the cheap?

Yeah, not exactly sure what the point of that post was.

I would buy them as well if could afford them. I know it's makes people on here angry, (since they don't measure really well) but I am loving my 800D3s though. I want for very little now.

Thinking about it/them... I remember many but some stand out. A bricklayer, a automotive transmission mechanic/specialist, a wire puller(laborer), a carpenter and a public transit bus driver. They all spent major dough and bought the good stuff and became friends too.

What's the most expensive you sold?
When I retailed it was ~1985-1994. Upper pricing end of gear the speakers where about $10K, power amps about $2500.00, tape decks up to $1400.00, CD to $1200.00 and turntables where phasing out and we had a lame selection off dual turntables up to $650.00. Mid-fi gear I consider it to be in the grand scheme of things.

Union members all, I'm sure. People had decent lives back then. I remember it well, and miss it.

I’m trying to put together a home theater room right now. I chose my dealer because he advertised that he sold Revel and JBL. But when I asked for JBL, he tried to steer me toward Wisdom. I had never heard of them before, and glancing at their website, I got a feeling of boutique startup. Kind of pricey for what you get, and unknown quality. We compromised by settling on Revel. Why he refuses to sell me JBL, I don’t know.
Based on your post, it seems Wisdom has been around a while, and is well accepted. Do you like them?
I was sorry to hear you didn’t think the Everests were the best sounding. I’ve never heard them, but have heard good things about them, and hoped they would be excellent, since I like my lower priced JBL’s so much.
No Dealer would ever refuse to sell me one of their brands. I find his attitude repulsive.

You must mean tax avoidance.
