I didn't expect this to support Tidal Connect but it comes up in the list in the Tidal Windows desktop app:

My R-N803D and RX-V1079 never appeared in that list so I had to use the musicast app instead (which is not as good as the native tidal app).

It did stutter occasionally but I'm not complaining as it wasn't an advertised feature and I didn't buy this amp for streaming.

I am looking for Tidal Connect, so lets check. I think the Connect is linked to the Musiccast app so...

I don't subscribe to Tidal Connect but it's an option.

This is the official list for Tidal Connect support, both brands & devices. There is no Yamaha here, strange. Also, as I said, I hope that Tidal Connect would work for all Musiccast devices.

My R-N803D has been packed away for months. This weekend I'll reconnect it and see if it appears in the Tidal App.

Hellgate's screenshot shows that even the MusicCast app refers to it as Tidal Connect rather than just Tidal.

Yes, I noticed the Tidal CONNECT only reference in the Rn2000 menu. Still, being Musiccast, sometime it should be deployed to all Musiccast, right?

In this video he mentions that the R-N2000A is using a newer generation of MusicCast chip

It's at around 5:40 that he starts talking about all older MusicCast devices being generation 1, and the R-N2000A being the first with generation 2. I don't speak German but youtube's auto-translate is fairly good. At 8:05 he says it will be the first part to support Tidal Connect. Youtube's auto translate kinda fails at this point but it's fairly clear what he is saying. I haven't been able to find any other source of information to confirm what he says.

I think we're going to see Tidal Connect on lots of new Yamaha devices but whether older devices get it probably depends on whether this new chip is needed or not.

Here's the side-panels. Pretty straight forward to make in wood.

I was moving the receiver into the BDI cabinet with limited success. The receiver is about 1.5" too deep. Nothing a sabre saw can't fix!

Also picked a smokin' deal today on a Rega P8 with an Apheta 3 cartridge.

I need to find a good, reasonably priced MC phono stage stage too.

I can recommend the Cambridge Audio Duo, but to be honest, the phono stage in your Yamaha should be as good, if it's like the one in the A-S1200.
I still bought the Cambridge Audio so i can route it through a MiniDSP.

That gave me an idea - the dark wood panels on my A-S1100 are exactly the same size so I can simply swap them over :)

The wood panels look longer in the picture but that's because the panels are thicker on top. Every dimension is the same.

The receiver has only MM unfortunately.

Darn, Cambridge Audio Duo then, used one can be had for 150€ sometimes. @amirm did measure one as well, it's fine.

A question to owners of this? How foolproof is the speaker switch? I need it to reliably stay at "none" under all conditions so I can use the preamp at very high volume setting to drive a separate valve integrated when I want to, without the risk of driving the in-built Yamaha amps. I currently have a NAD C3050LE on order (which has removable pre-out main-in loop) but the damn thing still hasn't been released!

You have to push the speakers button twice for it to change. The first time you press it, it just shows the current speaker setting.

Having said that, there is a button on the remote control so if you accidently sit on it there is a chance you'll engage the built in amps by mistake.

Nothing's as certain as a pre-main loop.

Variable loudness should have been something found on the A-S1200. And i think it should be the variable loudness knob that's remote controlled. Or maybe a switch that changes from volume to loudness control.

Sadly, most don't understand it's value.

I have had one on order too since October. I'm done holding my breath.
