I just read that in the roadmap for the ultra for the 15th of January 2025:
"Wireless Dolby 5.1 (Beta): Low-latency wireless Dolby 5.1 with surround channels. "
WTF that sounds awesome. Does anybody know more about?
That would be great for me, as I already have an WIIM Pro and active rears - then I may be able to sell my atmos preav and only use the WIIM Ultra.Just that I've heard this - it's involve a 2nd WiiM (Mini, whatever) and Amp for the rears.
The Ultra would strip out the front 3 LCR channels, place the centre equally in the L&R, and send the rears to the Mini, in the same way you can link your Mini to your Ultra over wi-fi and have it playing the same thing.
It sounds so devilishly simple and obvious, you have to wonder why it hasn't been done already.
This is a really dumb question but I am considering buying a Cambridge Audio CXA61 and want to know if the trigger from the Ultra would turn the CXA61 on. Anyone have this setup or have any experiences?

It has been, in a sense — this is essentially what the Sonos Amp does, paired with either a second Sonos Amp or two wireless Sonos speakers for the rear surrounds — for several hundred $ more than Wiim of course. It sounds so devilishly simple and obvious, you have to wonder why it hasn't been done already.

(Or did you mean why hasn’t it been done by Wiim themselves already?)
Proprietary will be for audio sync control, and because who doesn't like hardware sales. But you usually end up being tied to proprietary systems, often tied into the manufacturers own speakers/amplification.
I am still not sure how you got this to work. Is this a full version of the app? I got a generic AndroidTV (this is a review unit, so I didn't get the Transpeed...I received a KickPi which runs Android TV OS 12).and it also says that the Wiim Home app is not available on the device (Same as my Nvidia Shield). I have tried using the APK to install and it can't be controlled with the remote and the app installs like it would look on a phone (very narrow in the middle of the screen). Is the Transpeed running Android for tablets instead of Android TV OS?Mine is a TransSpeed 6K, but I really think any generic Android TV box would do the trick. The two or three I've had in the past all show up in Google Play when I pick an app to install.

I also tried two different boxes, including the transpeed and couldn’t load the app with either of them.I am still not sure how you got this to work. Is this a full version of the app? thanks for the info, I don’t think it works with Android TV OS, natively. I am still using a Minisforum PC running wiim home in the living room. I have an app on my phone called RemoteMouse to get it up and running, but PCs need to be updated more often, so I would have preferred a AndroidTV solution.I also tried two different boxes, including the transpeed and couldn’t load the app with either of them.
I have a Chromebook, but I prefer the smaller form factor of the smallish PC.Two ideas to beat up:
1. Use a Chromebook.
2. Use a Raspberry Pi and use Waydroid to run WiiM Home for Android (https://waydro.id/)
That makes sense that it might be running Android for tablets. One of mine that it's working on is an older Version 10. Build is Transpeed_H616-userdebug 10 QP1A.191105.004 eng.ren.20201021.181527 test-keys Rev. BD32 if that helps. I believe the newer one it's working on is V13. Both were bought on AliExpress. I can remember the narrow on the screen problem, but I think that happened when I tried to sideload the APK onto a Firestick.I am still not sure how you got this to work.
