They're pretty nice once you EQ them. Can't really do low end all that well but after adding a sub they're very nice. For close range, anyway. Definitely not something I'd use for an entire room but on a desk they're good. Music mode is better than monitor without EQ. They do hiss slightly, but it's not noticeable unless you have your ear right next to them. Less hiss than JBL 305p, couldn't use those because the hiss was so noticeable. Shame they don't have a sub out. Weird choice considering they really need one. Good stuff, though. Was pretty surprised, considering the price.

How's their clarity at low volumes? From my experience there are probably way more expensive speakers that do that worse.

Pretty good, actually. The only thing that loses in clarity when these are at low volume is the low end, but the low end is their only major flaw in general. That's after you EQ them a little, though. Since without EQ the midrange seems weirdly distant, no matter the volume. I'd consider a sub mandatory for these.

^ Bizzare I've turned down the bass on them, and turned up the treble. The Bass to me seems amazing.. My main music is rock and metal but I like pop and techno electronic as well and the bass seems great to me...

Might be something to do with volume. I found these distort, the bass especially, at higher volumes.

ahh, I'm not even close to turning these up to anywhere near max volume. Not that these are loud, they are not!

Listening to them now they sound amazing on house/techno, but are a little lacking on metal sound like small speakers, but on the house music they seem big.

Anyone know what the Latency is on these speakers? I think they have DSP so I assume they have latency.. I asked the customer support and they said they didn't know. I figured they might as when I asked Kali Audio about their speaker they told me it had 2 milliseconds latency.

2 milliseconds is less than most monitors. As long is it's not 600ms like a Sony Walkman I tried to use as a DAC ;p

^ As far as I know, maybe less than most with dsp, but if they are fully analog they should not have any latency, unless you mean nanoseconds which means nothing to me.

Hey, I just got the MR4, but I don't have a good DAC. Is the Apple dongle enough, or would the iFi Uno be a better option as a DAC?

Audiotrak Prodigy Cube is a very good and value for money, USB DAC and Headphone amplifier. It works just plug 'n' play. No need for drivers!

So if I can only use the EQ on the back what should I set my settings to? (Monitor/Music mode and other settings on the back?)

Is is true that these specs are fake:
1" tweeter, in reality 0.7"
4" woofer, in reality 3.6" ?
For the woofer that would be quite normal, they're a bit like CRTs in that respect. It's generally outer basket diameter.

A 1" tweeter should have a 1" dome though, so as small as this one looks, it's probably a 3/4" (19mm). No big deal, this one's in a waveguide and with smallish speakers like this the woofer is going to give up first anyway. There are some perfectly fine 19mm tweeters around, even Genelec uses some on their smaller models.

Hi

I just got them. Had Presonus Eros 3.5 before but these are much better. Better sound, goes down to 60Hz, and wooden construction is a huge +

Eris 3.5 located in the corner of my room became so bassy that even bringing the lows at the back did't help. MR4 (with more range in the low end!) located in the same place are causing no problem. Im very satisfied.

Can anyone please tell me how to apply EQ APO settings WITHOUT Peace interface? I really like the new default dark grey APO interface and don't want to use Peace. I got the EQ values but don't know how to load them.

Second question: I read in the manual that all inputs RCA and TRS on the back and AUX in on front can be used in parallel. While technically it will work wont it put too much strain on the speaker? How safe is this?

Use them to tweak the sound to your taste. First try both mode - Music and Monitor and hear which sounds better to you in a certain scenario (music listening, movie watching, music editing). And with two EQ dials on the back you can change the sound even more depending if you want more treble end or more bass. It is very useful to tune these speakers to sound best in a given room.
