'Deliverance' (caution for the sensitive type) was delivered in the summer of 1972.
Back in 1972-73 I did some film projections after college hours...in the evenings.
I remembered receiving the reels for that film and projected it in a smaller auditorium.
It goes without saying that the audiences left the auditorium without saying a word, trying to catch up with their breath. This is a very atmospheric film, in particular back then, four years short of fifty.
Inside the auditorium (music and film's venue) it was very quiet during the entire running time. It was also in that auditorium that we had live chamber classical music recitals.
The small jazz ensembles were in another auditorium of the college building.
And the international music concerts were in the main hall, where I also worked after college hours.
'Boogie Nights' is outrageously funny and also represents a segment of the film industry from back then and still today somehow but disguised in different ways.
I don't blame Marc Wahlberg for hating the character he played in it.
Burt Reynolds was excellent in his role there. 'Boogie Nights' is a cool flick, a classic, loosely based on the Hollywood porn's film industry, and representing some real characters. I think it's even worst today, just in a different way...with higher price infliction and inflation. The sickness and sadness remain. I don't think Hollywood would ever get out of it, it's part of their overall industry and culture. ...And not just in Hollywood, everywhere in the world sex is big money.
Hollywood is more comic super heroes for the masses...Marvel and DC comics.
And action movies with blood, horror, stunts, explosions, guns...that'll never go away...just too much money still with that piggy bank. ...Mission impossible.
Another funny Burt is in the movie 'Striptease' with Demi Moore.
Not the best movie on the block (very low rating), but a funny Burt in couple scenes.
Burt Reynolds, ya man, in movie heaven.
