Audioholics Measurements and review of Anthem MRX 1140 and 740 AVRs

Yes my apologies, just double checked and it’s the 1120. The 740 should be fine unless there’s been changes as it produces 108 db sinad at 2 volts @tmukh.

For clarify, if you are referring to Gene's measurements, he noted that:

This can be seen by the 3rd harmonic distortion down 108dB below the fundamental 2Vrms output drive at 1kHz.

That's not SINAD!!

It would be tough (though always possible), for the MRX to get 108 dB SINAD, when the DAC chip alone, managed only 106 dB, by the time you factor in the other chips such as volume control, buffer opamps, switches etc., the accumulated THD+N could easily bring the overall SINAD to near or even below 100 dB at 2V. No doubt, the MRX740 is still "transparent" enough, for me anyway.

Decided to finally pull the trigger on the Denon X6800. This is for a mini dolby atomos 5.1.4 system which will also be used for listening to stereo (2.1) music.
Now just hope the 6800 actually gets the ESS9017 chip

I'm in the market for a new middle-end AVR since my NAD T778 shat the bed, and I like the sound characteristics of my MCA 525, so I thought of getting an Anthem AVR.

Once nice feature of the NAD is that it could natively stream Tidal, Qobuz, TuneIn, etc., but now I have to use Roon because my Oppo is now being used as the AVR in my setup

I know the Anthems don't do Roon, but can they do streaming natively? I use Qobuz, so if they can do that, then it's a winner :)

No. They have airplay, spotify and Chromecast. So I stream using Chromecast or play the native app on my firetV cube.
