Are there any amplifiers you can recommend that are 300W or higher in the $5,000 to $10,000 range?

Now after warm welcome where are you from?

I live in Asia. Therefore, I am enjoying the HI-FI audio world, which is less convenient compared to the United States or Europe.

And I guess I should change my nickname according to your advice. But I can only change it after a month...

I wouldn't get too concerned about your screen name. Many mispronounce it and find the resulting bathroom humor funny....

You still seem to have some strange ideas about the "sound" of modern amps. Tube amps may be a bit different due to distortion or impedance variation with the speaker, tho. Are you looking for a power amp or an integrated amp? If power amp, what do you use for pre-amp currently?

Oh, right! In the fairy tales I read, Greek mythology is portrayed in a very positive way! Of course, I know that adult versions are very lewd. So I'm going to change my nickname in a month!

Think of it as an expression based on my past experience. The general reviewers or people in my area who describe it as a "tube-like" sound are expressing it as I said.

I will use it by connecting a stereo amplifier or monoblock power amplifier directly to the DAC without a preamplifier and using it for speakers!

Hi

I posit that @Uranus is having a good fun:

Posting to an internet forum suggest a modicum of research about the general philosophy of the forum. I would surmise that no research results (in any human language) would suggest that ASR consider price as a a valid performance metric. To put it bluntly" High Prices do not sway us" All the contrary... We are eager to prove that it is not so ... We don't give a rat ass about high prices. We are he forum whose serious measuring protocol and adherence to the Science of Audio, have demonstrated, yes, demonstrated that that an Apple dongle at $9.85 was more performant than a$15,000 DAC.. or that over $60 is the threshold of diminishing returns for IEM... or to put in another way, SOTA performances for IEM begins at less than $25 (State Of The Art)...
The best DAC tested here are all under $1000 with many of the absolute best hovering around $200 ...
As for amplifiers the Hypex and Purifi-based amplifiers routinely provide world class performance and power at less $2000 often at less than $1000.

The measurements and reviews are here for anyone to find...

yet @Uranus (Yep a, a bathroom joke worthy handle) comes up and specify a high price for a power amplifier ... as one of the criteria .. the other being the wattage: "300 or over.." to drop a bit of obfuscation,, there are 1000 wpc amplifiers at $1000 ...

And this transparent attempt has elicited replies surprisingly, for , so far, 6 pages!!

Won't feed any longer, the troll.

I am out

Peace.

So your dac has pre-amp capabilities, especially volume control? Most reviewers aren't worth reading unless correlating measurements perhaps.

Bye. FrantzM.

When I first wrote here, I was really looking for an amp under $10,000? But you guys told me that Class D amps have great performance and good prices, so I changed my mind.

I'm currently looking at specs and prices for Class D amps. I'm looking at Audiophonics, Topping, Nord, Vera, Apollon, Buckeye, NAD, ATI, etc.

I'm also reading reviews. I didn't even think about Class D, so I didn't read any reviews on the amp side.

There are so many DACs with such great measurements that I'm curious, so I bought 2 SMSL products. One expensive one and one average one. I hope you come back soon. I'm so curious. What kind of sound will they make.

And did I actively reply to you? I like to have conversations.

Anyway, bye~ See you next time.

Yes, there is. It has a DAC volume control function. I am using the old dCS DAC SCARLATTI set. I bought the SMSL this time, so I want to compare them? The SMSL also has a volume control, right?

I tested all of dCS's super expensive products. Even Vivaldi. But I liked listening to it by connecting the AMP directly to the DAC than using the preamp.

When I tested it, I found that I had to use a preamp that cost more than $20,000 to avoid distortion. There are too many preamps in Hi-Fi products that are expensive and make the sound bad.

I don't plan on using a source device that inputs analog, such as a turntable. So I just connect it directly to the DAC.

That's why I don't read reviewers' comments! I only believe what I hear myself.

Really $20k before you found a non distorting preamp!.

Right! I didn't do it with my own money. I tested it on my friends' systems. That's why I really hate preamps.....

It's really good to listen to music with an expensive turntable and an expensive phono amp, right? But now, the sound quality of streaming music sources has gotten so good, and the DAC performance has gotten so good that there's no need to listen to turntables or CDs. Why spend 10 or 100 times more money to listen to music? It's pointless.

Sounds like you still have misconceptions, and about pre-amps now. You need to invest in better testing procedures perhaps....just trusting your ears is a poor way to go. Good luck, tho.

Now that I've learned how much Class D has improved, I'm thinking it might be a good idea to save some money on the amplifier and invest more in the speakers!
Good - that is the absolutely correct approach. One of the Purify based amps, or newer hypex models will meet your needs very well.

(And you are reading much less like AI now - in fact you read just like everyone else)

Typically, when I'm active in my local community, it's considered polite to reply to every comment.
Understood - different cultures have different needs.

Here, you probably are fine with a statement like "Thanks for all the replies so far..." in a single summary post letting us know your thoughts. Mention people by name if you like, and if there is not too many of them.

There is no need to reply to every post with a separate post of your own. That is a lot of work to keep up when you might have half the forum members replying to you. :)

As has been mentioned there is no strict correlation between price and performance, ‘High End’ is just marketing to give the gullible something to aspire to.

Specifically this OP has exhibited very un-troll-like behaviour. He has changed his posting style when it was pointed out to him it looked like AI, and he has adapted his statement of what he is looking for, based on what he has learnt here. This is not what trolls do.

Spend your money getting better speakers/headphones not chasing dragons on DAC's and amplifiers. Streaming services are good but only on mainstream popular music which means nothing to many people. It's important how good whose recording and mastering done not form or media it whose published. Tell you what get a measurement microphone (Preferably UMIK) and learn basics how to use it with REW and basics of EQ-ing and correct placement and it will be most valuable thing you ever did for yourself regarding audio reproduction. We will talk and you will catch up. Now have a nice time and welcome to ASR.

Thank you!

When I tested preamps, I changed multiple preamps in one system and checked things like noise and dynamic range, leaving aside sound qualities like harmonic balance. I didn't delve deeply into the theoretical reasons or causes!

Preamps require more attention to cables and increase variables, so they cost more. That's why I don't use them.

Thank you for the good advice. Yes, I'll look into Class D well. And I see that I can respond to multiple posts at once in a single post. I'm learning one by one. Thank you.

I admit, that's why I'm looking for products now, taking your opinions into consideration! Thank you!

Yes! I'm trying! It's convenient to write down the answers at once! I'm still learning.

Thanks for the advice! I'm learning hard.

I know very well that all products in the system must maintain consistent performance to deliver the best sound.

Of course, the speakers and headphones that are in charge of the final output are the most important.

Since there are certain speakers, I am looking for the remaining products. And I was wondering how much money I should spend, but since the performance of Class D amplifiers has improved a lot, I think I don't have to spend a lot of money!

It's good that there are many relatively cheap and good products these days, including DACs.

Thank you!

No - nothing requires more attention to cables. Most pre-amps will work fine with most power amplifiers. Most will add no audible noise or distortion.

Aside from allowing connection of multiple sources, they also eliminate the possibility that your DAC glitches and defaults to maximum volume and blows the speakers.

There's no need to spend twenty grand. I use a Sony pre-amp bought used on eBay for £350. I could certainly have spent a lot more than that if there was any benefit whatsoever in doing so. There isn't.

I didn't delve deeply into the theoretical reasons or causes!
I guess you didn't.

The overwhelmingly most likely explanation is perceptive bias (your brain altering what you hear) rather than any real differences between the devices. This is not a criticism of you - it happens to all humans all the time. It is why if you want to do listening comparisons, proper controlled testing is needed:
