How exactly passives sounded better than actives?Exactly correct

This would be my vote as well. Super wide and even dispersion, with 25Hz extension. Close 2nd for me would probably be Revel F208.The BMR Tower uses a mass-loaded transmission line with an 8-inch Scan Speak 22W/8851T Revelator woofer. It provides flat in-room response to 25 Hz with no port noise. Useful response extends to 20 Hz. Two BMR midrange drivers further improve power handling and offer increased clarity in the lower treble and upper midrange. BMR towers are priced at $3,500/pair, plus shipping. To order, email Dennis Murphy at [email protected]. The next batch of towers will arrive in Dec. 2021

Pi speaker fourI'm not knowledgable about speakers. Maybe woofer size is not even what I'm looking for. All I know is based on the speakers I've tested the bigger the woofer the better it sounded so I was curious if there any speakers for under $3k with a woofer over 6.5?
I just ordered a pair of these last night in Piano black. The BMR Tower uses a mass-loaded transmission line with an 8-inch Scan Speak 22W/8851T Revelator woofer. I endorse this; I consider actives to always be a better solution than passives.Or sell the amp, and put the extra money into an active system?

I was debating between these and revel f208's and ended up with the philharmonics due to price for a pair and I like small businesses that also put measurements out there for all to see.
This is also for a dual purpose room (music and home theatre) and getting a full surround setup in philharmonic stuff was quite a bit cheaper than the Revel for not much performance loss if any.
I would do this if I was ready to buy! Can't even find them on Amazon.caDali Oberon 9 $2500 pair amazonView attachment 151776View attachment 151776
Without a sizable waveguide, there's a good chance of significantly compromised directivity. Not sure why anyone would say that it is not possible to do a two way with 8" woofers. I have three pairs of exactly that and they sound great.

Will do. Dennis said they are ordering another round now and they won't be to him until end of December. I am in no hurry so it worked out well for me.Let us know your thoughts.
The JBL 190's just went for sale at Crutchfield, they have 8" woofers, I've seen lots of positive comments about them here and the JBL's in general seem to do very well in Amir's reviews. Just saying!
