this whole line of network receivers is amazingly expensive here and the us rrp isnt that much better

the 602 is about $500 usd, $800 for the 803 and $4,000 for the rn2000? like what what

i'm really reluctant to even open the manual on these given I kind of dislike the whole vibe of network receivers.... i'd have little issue with the AS1200 but this lot? eh...

sounds like you're better off with the 1200 and adding the discrete modules you need to get the functionality you need

the 1200 is almost an end piece and will always have good retained value... these network jobs? hmmm

Hi,
Anyone happens to have the service manual for the R-N800 or R-N1000?
Thanks

I think it's priced quite competitive. 800 EUR for a all in one device from a renowned manufacturer. -That looks like a piece of HiFi.
Just don't see the value at 800 eur for that thing....

It will be in high demand I bet. All-in-one that looks nice and classic as a full size piece of HiFi, built nice (if it's like the others) from a reputable manufacturer.

The prices will quickly fall, as per usual. Always keep in mind that only fools pay the manufacturers recommended price.

I believe the R-N600a is a software refresh of the R-N602, as it has the same UI, connectivity and specs.

This is the R-N602 from the inside, i suspect the R-N600a looks like this too.
The R-N800a should look like the R-N803D.
The R-N1000a could look like the A-S1200 and the R-N2000a like the A-S2200, plus the digital board from the R-N803D.

$1200 AUD.... I'll take my A-S501 + WiiM Mini which cost $650 total.

Integration is perfect since the A-S501's USB power only turns on in Coaxial/Optical mode which means that the WiiM mini only powers on when the amp is in optical mode...\

Not hating though, i love yamaha equipment.... have both the V6A and the A-S501

Ok, what i wrote previously is wrong.

The R-N2000a looks like this on the inside, it's based on the latest revision of the A-S1000 line (no XLR inputs), the A-S1200.
The digital board on top is taken from the R-N803D.
20230221155958_3d7e9223.jpeg

The digital inputs are 2 optical, 1 coax, 1 USB, 1 HDMI, plus DAB radio.

Both, R-N1000s and R-N800s look like the R-N803D on the inside, their power amplifier have the same specs and it's the same digital board.
They are different in the digital inputs:
  • R-N1000a has 2 optical, 1 coax, 1 USB and one HDMI, plus DAB radio.
  • R-N800a has 2 optical, 2 coax, 1 USB, no DAB radio.
And then there is the R-N600a, a refresh of the R-N602.

the A-S501's USB power only turns on in Coaxial/Optical mode
I didn't know. Could be problematic with devices that have a builtin DAC.

Yamaha apparently also introduced a new speaker family, positioned below the NS-5000 and above NS-777. They seem to be unusually heavy for Yamaha, the larger 2 way NS1000a is 13kg, the NS-2000a in the picture is 33kg and costs 7000€ for the pair.

I'm the same as you. But I still think it's placed on the market at a competitive price point as an all in one device. But I would never buy it regardless. The HiFi market is FUBAR unless looking at used goods where much can be had for little. The depreciation on speakers especially is bonkers..

Anyone having issues with this? I had one for 2 weeks before power supply went.

The 2nd one i just received and the vU meters on left channel aren’t moving much when i play a mono signal?

Also swapped speakers and sides but still happening on left side. Vu meter on the left just sits in one spot where right hand side moves freely- last version didnt do this at all.

Latest firmware / reset to factory and tried without YPAO - anyone experienced same thing?

Nothing under $1000 lately has made me want to upgrade from my R-S700. That was a true bargain even when brand new.

Sounds like a case for the Yamaha support to me. It shouldn't happen obviously. o_O

That's what i always say. The R-S700 can be had for less than 200€ sometimes. A steal.
Also welcome to ASR.

Meh a new A-S700 if you can find one as it's pretty much the same thing but new.

Sure, the A-S700 has the same power supply and power amplifier, so as far as sound and power are concerned, it's the same, but it has no pre-amp/main-in loop nor FM/AM radio. Also it has record-select, which may be interesting for some.
The R-S700 remote can learn other remotes, like a TVs volume or channel up/down, which is cool i think.

I would always prefer the R-S700 based on the fact that it's for some reason always cheaper than the A-S700. Looks nice too:

@TheBatsEar well if you run on to old stock of A-S700 (new with regular warranty) for less than 500€ like I did then that's a hell of an offer. A-S700 is remarkable good amplifier with better autended unbalanced inputs (rated at 110 dB) then anything with higher integration either in the past or now. If you prefer a remote and digital inputs Musicast app and now old R-N803 or even mine cheap R-N402D (cause of it's very good old Burr Brown DSD1793 DAC) are much more interesting one's to look for.

Control knob? Anyone know whT thats means?

I’ve looked everywhere- reinitalisied the amp, used another ypao mic, remvoed all connections and getting same thing.

This is my third replacement of this unit! Getting fed up

Any ideas?
