Well, you couldn't do a blind test... could youA couple of years ago I bought a projector and did some searching online to find some clues as to how I could do some calibration to it for best results. And what a disappointment that was, imagine everyone saying that to do it properly you needed to either hire a specialist with the proper measurements tools, or buy the equipment needed and learn to do it yourself, which could cost as much as the projector itself.
I was very disappointed and didn't liked that part of objectivism at all. Couldn't I just use my eyes, got two of them and I can hold my ground on a staring contests.
You didn't look in the right place. You can do some basic calibration without such gear with a little knowledge. Plus you can buy bluray or dvd discs with some filters and test patterns. You won't match a pro done calibration with a ton of expensive gear. You will get closer than otherwise and be right in the ball park of very good.A couple of years ago I bought a projector and did some searching online to find some clues as to how I could do some calibration to it for best results. It’s my strong belief that the only way to change things is to hit companies where it hurts, their bottom line. I kept my subscription to Stereophile for 15 years to try and support the industry and because I like John Atkinson’s measurements.Thoughts after Munich
I'm writing this column on the long flight back to New York City following High End Munich, the big hi-fi show that in regular times takes place each May. Because these are not regular times, this was the first Munich show since 2019. This show was smaller than other recent Munich shows: COVID...www.stereophile.com
I am pretty sure this is a direct comment on the ASR community.
But I am the best looking one:But Amir is not the only one who uses Audio Precision analyzer, is he?
He he, lol.But I am the best looking one:
Yeh, I considered strapping a GoPro camera on my head. But thought I am too good looking to stay behind the camera that way....Well at least @amirm we know what you look like and who you are... unlike some other Goldfinger types who don't like to show their faces.

I was trying to make the point that the vision fellows have en large understood that the eyes can get you so far and proper measurements are needed for great results. On audio, even media like Stereophile, are still talking about intuition, mystical interpretation of measurements, it's a childishly game they are playing and is becoming fast tiresome and even insulting in a strange way (damn, that's what hanging around here do to you). You didn't look in the right place.
