I like those Kavalan solist bourbon cask whiskey and Russell's reserve bourbon whiskey

I've also been enjoying them in gin and tonics with gin made with eau de vie this hot summer.

Also, for me, no Korean seafood dish is complete without a glass of Hwayo soju. :)

That Russel’s is hiding in the back of my cabinet. Not sure why but need to remember it. Glad you posted this.

Finishing up my Yamazaki Essence of Suntory Golden Promise.

By far the most affordable way to get a high-proof (53% ABV/106 US proof), age-stated (~12yo) whiskey from Yamazaki.

These were experimental bottlings Suntory released only to hospitality/F&B wholesale accounts in Japan at super-low prices, but they have leaked onto the secondary market and therefore accessible by end-consumers. With no retail pricing reference, there was minimal flipping and speculation. That and the super low original prices (I'm told 70usd ish) means the bottles were attainable, even factoring in the secondary market markup, up till earlier this year.

Much cheaper than the standard 18yo they are trying to flog for 600-1000usd(!)

My wife and I are cocktail fans, but are cutting down a bit on the amount of alcohol. So, not Cocktails, not Mocktails, but Bobtails! Bobtail as in Bobtail Cats, spirited but cut a bit short.

Bobtail Witch:

2 1/2 Dry Vermouth (Noily Pratt Original)
1 Strega
3/4 Fresh Lemon Juice
2 dashes Cardamom bitters

Shake with a minimum of ice.

The specialist liquor stores in Japan are only matched by the bars
I would love to spend some time in Japan perusing their bars. And if I'm honest, beautiful Japanese women. I have a penchant. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Me too. I love the Japanese Jazz Bar sort of stuff and I've dated several Japanese women and they range from this to that like any other women does. Once you get over the mystique and stop focusing it gets easier. Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Filipino, Heinz 57 and others and they where all sweet and lovely. Give it a try and you might like them more than you imagine. :D With each passing day you may be missing out on your wonder woman.

LOL, I'm pretty well done with the pursuit, more in the appreciation phase.
