It seems like an oversight that this thread doesn't already exist. I know there are a few cocktail posts in the spirits thread, but one must wade through pages of bottle porn to find them. I hope this thread is more about recipes with normal mid-shelf ingredients than showing off rare finds, but I'm naive that way.

I'll start things off with a nice weather-appropriate option:

Gulf Coast Toddy

1oz dry Curaçao
1oz Ancho Reyes Ancho (not Verde)
1/2oz lemon juice
1 cinnamon stick
hot water
honey to taste

steep, sip, enjoy

You're welcome.

I made a cocktail a couple of days ago. Merrys Strawberry Irish Cream and Alberta Premium Rye Whisky. Mix to taste and sip away.

Good call on this thread!

I like to mix up complicated cocktails from time to time, but lately I've been on a Naked and Famous kick - equal parts Aperol, mezcal, Yellow Chartreuse, and lime juice, but you can get away with using Strega for the Chartreuse.

My contribution to "lowbrow" cocktails is a limoncello shandy, basically you put equal parts limoncello and lemon juice in a glass of pilsner of your choice. I guess 1oz at a time if you're trying to walk straight.

Of course I also recommend doing your own limoncello using a sous vide circulator, only takes about 12 lemons, a bottle of grain alcohol, and ~2 hours.

One of my favorites! Figured I would post it here in a couple days, but you stole my thunder. Great drink that doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

If you like Naked & Famous, have you had a Trato Hecho? Just a Last Word with mezcal instead of gin.

are there any cigar guys in here?

We californians might need to start another thread for that sort of thing...
but why, is it just cali? or just people who prefer not to drink. myself, not a huge fan. most alcohol drinks dont taste good at all......

Manhattans in the winter, Mai Tai's in the summer.....as it is above freezing here today let's call it summer!

Is Whiskey in My Whiskey a cocktail?

Since folks keep mentioning Manhattans, here's one from a neighboring borough.

Brooklyn

1½ rye
¾ dry vermouth
½ Felix Bigallet China-China Amer
¼ Luxardo
maraschino cherry
