Cocktails, what are you mixing?

Sure is quiet around here.

A La Louisiane

2 rye
3/4 sweet vermouth
1/2 benedictine
3d peychard’s

maraschino cherry
absinthe to float

Last night was Naked And Famous.

Equal parts Mezcal, Yellow Chartreuse, Aperol, Lime Juice.

I like me a Paper Plane but substituted with Scotch.
Yup. My fave as well. I sub in an Apple flavoured whiskey. Makes for a lighter (flavour and alcohol) and more floral drink.

I tend to think of these equal-parts sours as a category, although I’m not aware of a generic term for the group. I suppose they’re all descended from the venerable Last Word. Paper Plane and variants have been going strong for 15 years now. Naked & Famous seems to be on rise lately.

A lesser known example that I also like is Monte Cassini - rye, yellow chartreuse, Benedictine, and lemon juice.

A local joint crafted a more, shall we say, strident entry they called an Industry Sour - green chartreuse, fernet branca, turbo, and lime juice. The color is off-putting, but it has a big big flavor. Unlike some others, this one wants a lot of shaking.

Interesting. I hadn’t heard of this one. The Chartreuse and Benedictine combo is surprising to me as they seem more similar than not. But I do love my Rye… ;)
