Weed thread, what do you vaporize / smoke?

I like to vape some Afghani and then listen some classical music. Gets me to close my eyes, not think too much, and concentrate on the music. It is great that after a lifetime of making do with whatever I could find on the black market (very strict enforcement in Bavaria, so usually no choice at all) I can now easily get high quality grass of the strain I want from the pharmacy. Also: growing my own weed, legally, is great fun.

That is really strange. Wonder what the reason is.

because of the smoke in your lungs. They smoke cigarettes to emulate the feeling of smoking weed.

If we really wanna analyze the effect of weed in society, I think we have examples in the Middle East where alcohol is forbidden, but weed is not. I never did this research...just an idea.

I think that for all the positive effects of weed, we have much better options. like, you wanna relax, go appreciate some nature, gotdamit.
There is speculation of weed as a painkiller. ok, that would be a good application. But still, the evidence is low.

I think weed is like marrying. People ignore the experience of people that advise against it hahahahhaha.

In countries where weed or hash is smoked mixed with tobacco (like my native Germany) it is a gateway drug for smoking cigarettes, because nicotine is addictive as fuck and anybody who smokes weed regularly always has tobacco in reach.

AFAIK this is not the case in places where grass is smoked pure, or now with people vaping it.
While weed consumed solo is only psychologicaly addictive, when you mix it with tobacco both substances multiply the addiction, that's a well known phenomenom, that's the reason why some of the most dangerous drugs are composed of multiple drugs mixed together. I also know many people who got addicted to tobacco by smoking spliffs.

Nothing. Ever. Never smoked a single cigarette even actively. Maybe because as children we were literally smoked in the back seat of the car by our chain-smoking parents. Fucking idiots, but that was common in the seventies.
Never smoked in me life - it killed my mother and Dad had a (passive) smoking related cancer.

Alcohol though, in my time............... Severe low limit now...

^ this and turn on a little Davor Tosovic, Seabra Monkey, Pitch Black, Frenk Dublin and others ..

We were smoking bongs, daily....all day....back in the 90s.
I lost many years of my life, I would say.
It's such a waste. You drink, you have fun. You smoke, you just bum around...

Same here.
But we didn't just hang around, we also loved playing basketball while we got high.

I can understand when you say it feels like wasted time. I look at all experiences/events from a spiritual perspective: they belong to the person who had them, contributed to their personal development (even if it doesn't feel that way at first), and ultimately made them who they are today. I mean, I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to be anyone other, than who I am today.

I think the statement, "You drink, you have fun. You smoke, you just bum around..." is pretty bold. You usually have fun up until the third beer; everything after that is crap, and that's putting it mildly.

Did we abuse cannabis back then? Definitely yes. It was a valuable lesson.
These days, I use cannabis very responsibly...

Impossible to say... but probably? Something else could have been the "gateway". There will always be a first thing to try, and it will always appear to be "the gateway" in hindsight.
We can go downhill and then realize that we're almost constantly stimulating our brains.
Oral stimulation through eating. Every steak is a kick. Sugar is compared to cocaine under MRI.

Ramana Maharshi, for example, recommends a diet that stimulates the brain as little as possible and only keeps the system alive.
But do we really want to live like that?
I exercise every day and live healthily.
But I don't want to miss out on my kick from Häagen-Dazs salted caramel.

We can go downhill even further. It's now scientifically proven, that our brains are prone to addiction, to negative thoughts. Yes, we cultivate negative thoughts because a certain hormone cocktail is released while we do that, which is addictive...
So where is it, the ultimate gateway drug?!

ANYWAY, the answer you were probably expecting:
However, when crossing the border from a green to a red state, you may always have to remember that there is nothing left in your car or jacket.

The Germans now have a law that allows possession and consumption. You just can't buy it anywhere unless you join a marijuana growing club.
Completely insane.
You're also not allowed to buy it in the Netherlands and drive it across the border.
Theoretically

The previous German government was considering full legalization, but could not due to the EU contracts. So they went ahead and came up with regulation that eases things quite a bit, without really making anybody happy.
You are relatively safe if staying below the legal limit of 25 g that you can carry - unless the police accuse you of dealing. The 50 g allowed at home is a joke if you grow your own (up to 3 plants allowed at any time), but then it's not everyday that the police search your home. Cannabis clubs are a nice idea in principle (works well in Spain), but completely overregulated, and my home state of Bavaria simply does not issue permits. In practice, you can get a prescription for weed online from one of dozens of "weed mill" services, and these usually also offer to order the prescribed weed directly from a pharmacy. Since there is tough competition in the, effectively, legal weed market (Germans are a thrifty people, and our retail margins are really low generally), prices start as low as 4 EUR/gram.
Unfortunately, the majority party in the new government campaigned on reverting to full prohibition, to reign in the "dealer wars" that now make it "impossible to go out on the street", and all of Germany getting stoned all the time and no longer wanting to work unpaid overtime, or some such bullshit. There's going to be an "evaluation" of the current law in the fall, but it is really going to come down to horsetrading within the current coalition. Let's hope this at least less insane than previous legal situation persists.

NB: I do not think that cannabis is completly harmless, but it is less destructive than alcohol or tobacco/nicotine, and that should figure heavily in how to deal with it in a liberal society. Also, prohibition did nothing to keep the youth from getting stoned (that is mainly a function of culturla trends) and destroyed lives because of the legal consequences of getting caught.

I don't think they can put the toothpaste back into the tube. Last year all kinds of growing supplies were sold out or very expensive, because so many people started growing. Now, you can get a full tent setup for 300€. Last year in march I had no idea about growing cannabis. There are many people like me. If they make it illegal again, depending on the fines I might risk continuing to grow in the garden. Other option is to buy a tent. Nobody will ever know you're growing indoors with proper air filtering. And it doesn't take up much space either. If it's only for your own supply, even a small tent will suffice and you can grow the whole year round.

In California it's more like $2/g now, for cheaper stuff.
Damn. 8€/g in France, 10-12€/g for high end California imports, this price is for small quantities. All illegal of course.
When I was young I grew some in a tent in my Paris flat with filter and all sort of gear, made like 6 plants several times with seeds I got in the Netherlands. Takes dedication, it's easy to mess it up, I gave up at some point, I wasn't that much into weed to make that much effort.

Some years ago when I had to buy from "my guy" in Chicago and not a store in SF (it's legal now in Illinois too) it was around $14/g+. Risk premium!
