I have 2 set ups and a spare room filled with various gear i'm not using...solid state & tube gear, minidsp & dirac boxes, streamers, albums & CD's, and speakers.

95% of the time I'm listening to music in 2.1ch...thru either TV (Fire stick) or a Primare Prisma streaming transport, into a RME ADI-2 dac, to an Arcam PA240 amp, out to Polk R700 speakers & a SVS 2000pro sub. Simplest set up I've ever had. Other 5% I use IEM's. Other set up is a dust collector.

This forum is way too difficult for average soundbar owner. Maybe if it was TikTok-like...

Anyway, classic stereo rules and that's all we need to know:cool:
Which I find interesting, sometimes there's a lot of talk from the X:Y crowd about new music recordings for more "immersive" formats. No disrespect intended, but based on some some discussions I thought it'd be a bit more prevalent for music listening by some in here.

I should note music is my priority, but movies do pretty well played through my 2:1 system, never felt I missed a thing. I have one single main system, so movies have to use whatever is best for music. :) My cat's reactions to FX confirm the stuff works... :-D

Difficult... Headphones and stereo speakers 50/50... Except holidays time, I use to use headphones and iem.
I listen to headphones most of the day, so when I chill in the evening (typically reading my Kindle, having a glass of wine) ... it is in front of the stereo (well, 2.1) loudspeakers. Even though it's less time than headphones, it's probably the most important.

I am working at home. It's a great pleasure, I can listen to music near all the day, except during remote meetings.

Beside my 2x2 active system with horns and two woofers in my living room I have small speakers in my study so I also can listen there to calibrated sound during work. But this is near field and different. I love the undistorted sound of the horns going up to live volume with ease.
In my study I also run some elder Sennheiser HD580 Precision headphones that did not sound bad at all as they run equalized and were driven by a RME ADI-2 Pro.
But believe me: Fun I only have in my living room with the horn speakers.

Thanks for asking, but intended audio to be more than just music.

I have added info to the initial thread post to hopefully clarify.
I’ll change my 2.x vote to the Multiple Systems option. Much of the time we have the news/markets on the TV in the family room during the day on our 5.2.4 HT and watch shows and movies in the evening. Rarely music though.

I retreat to “my room” for music so my wife is less impacted.

A brain is probably at the end of this chain…

Am (hereby) disqualifying any votes from members without ears and a brain!:D

3.2 system for living room listening
Stereo on my PC
IEMs for everything else.

Also, I'm very surprised that not that many people have 3.x systems

completely useless comment from me, but i voted:
IEM's (just because stereo is not 100% setup in my home right now and for me iem's have become convenient way to listen)
but as perfect ready setup i would consider stereo.
