hi all. i put in an order for a pair of refurbished es20's for use in a small bedroom on a pc. i unfortunately won't be adding a subwoofer at any point due to my living circumstances.

i'm debating whether or not to go with an as301 or go the cheaper route with an rs202...

the extra tone features and inputs on the 301 isn't important to me and neither is the dac - i'll be using a jds atom. as far as just strictly the quality of the amp (rms aside), is the 301 worth the extra cash? will i be getting better sound quality? thanks.

I don't think I would hear much of a difference between the two options. From what I can see of pictures of the internals of each option, it appears the A-S301 uses a more robust heat sink than the R-S202.

Hello!

I think You cold be better to use marantz or denon amp for the es20s.I run them with a marantz pm7005 and sounds fine without sub,eq,loudness etc.
Marantz could be warm, soft and detailed , denon could be little more dynamic.

hello. did i do this right? i'm shooting for Maiky76's score eq in this post:

i got all of the numbers right, but i'm not sure whether or not i'm using the correct "HPQ". does that refer to the "high shelf filter (q as slope)" in peace, or should i be using a different 'high' filter?

thanks.

You should be able to import Maiky's presets directly into Peace which will fill in all parameters automatically.

i figured there was a way to do that but couldn't find it. i'll have a look again a bit later. thanks!

It only imported frequencies, not gain values or Qs, had to put them manually.

Hi!I am still looking for new bookshelf loudspeakers can better upgrade than my es20 ls.
I do not care about the "Vienna Quartett" or "audiophil piano competitions"..I like several genres from Metallica and AC/DC to Mike Oldfield,Sarah Brightman,Pink Floyd,Roger Waters,Schiller(electronic),Yello, etc.
So what I need: bigger size bookshelf ls with good response and bass,exciting-not dry or flat sounding, with wide "sweet point"-dispersion.
I asked on several forums but no tips.
Revel M16 is not available at us,I read positives about jbl 630...?!...
I only use pure stereo system without eq,tone or loudness but good efficient with the es20s.
Not need sub,the almost square room boosts the low frequencies.(I love bass)

What's your budget and which country are you located in?

Hello!
I am from Hungary.Budget is max about 1000 euros.I do not want overpriced or hyped things, practically like the "price to value" rated ls.
The Wharfedale Linton seems like a natural step-up.

It's a bigger speaker with deeper bass, yet keeps the wide sweet spot of the ES20.

How does everyone rate these for side surrounds? Deciding between these, the KEF Q150 and Ascend HTM-200SE to go with my JBL HDI fronts/center. All currently go for around the same price (~$350/pair)

Barring any other feedback, you can get some idea at Spinorama.org
