Did you assign your channels? It takes a little configuration first.
Doh! No I didn't.
When delivered, the Flex is configured for stereo playback with no audio processing enabled.
The extract from the manual above led me to think that it was good to go straight out of the box. I'll give it a proper go again in the morning. Thanks.

Have a look in the packaging - especially the plastic bags. I found two of mine stuck to bits of plastic packaging.

Yes though : disappointing they seem to fall off in transit.
Had a good look in the packaging and no sign of it. Don't think it was ever affixed as there's no adhesive residue on the case where it should have been. Not a deal breaker though. I'll have a good read of the manual in the morning and try and set it up properly. Hope you're all enjoying your Flexes.

Oh man now it has to stand on only 3 feet! So shaky.

A quick tip for Mac users. lf Dirac is not able to connect to internet, stop the airplay receiver option in system preferences and (I don’t know why but l had to do it) restart both the flex and Dirac

Yep, just received the Flex Digital as well. Not output assigned out of the box so had to go download the 2x4HD plugin and fixed it. Had to unmute the right channel, unmute some outputs, switch from SPDIF which was the default on my box, to TOSLINK etc. I'm familiar with the 2x4HD plugin as I had the 2x4HD a while back when playing with configs for multiple subwoofers.

(showing TOSLINK now rather than SPDIF above after configuration)

Okay folks, put simply I don't know what I'm doing and could do with some assistance please. I've connected my Flex Digital to my active speakers using an optical cable. I'm playing music from my laptop using Tidal app using USB to the Flex. I've also tried Bluetooth. I think I have the input/outputs configured correctly - the inputs show a signal, as do the outputs. Images attached. Volume set to the highest on the plugin/Flex, adjusting it then on the speakers. But still no sound. Is there something else I need to configure? Thanks.

You are getting plain ol'out -of-the-box-stereo? Do you have the Dirac license? Or, are you not using Dirac?

@poxymoron have you tried the "Help" section in the miniDSP software? I bet there's a guide on configuring your I/O somewhere in there.

I notice you have preset 2 active on the flex, but you are showing us preset 1 in the screenshots. How is preset 2 set up?

Yeah, would be helpful as @VMAT4 says, to have pics of the back on how the cables are all connected up. I have mine as input 1 - 0db (on), off, 0db (on), off. Then input 2 - off, 0db (on), off, 0db (on). So that's channels 1, 2, 3, & 4.

Thanks for your replies. Some additional photos attached. I'm using preset 1 on both the Flex and the plugin. Playing from Tidal on the laptop, connected to Flex via USB, USB selected on Flex, all volume turned up full except on the speakers, just in case it suddenly starts to work. Flex connected to the master speaker with a single optical cable from Flex digital out 1&2. Inputs and outputs still showing signals on the plugin, still no sound. I'm not using Dirac.

I'm assuming you've correctly slected optical as the input on the speaker (how do you do that BTW)?

Have you tried an alternate input on the flex (EG Toslinkor bluetooth)?

I have. I'm trying it out on my Edifier S1000db as they are in the office and easier to access. I also tried it on my Edifier S3000pro and still no success. I select optical on both systems using the remote or the rear buttons. On the S3000pro it says optical is selected, on the S1000db it simply shows a red LED (for optical or coax), I can flick between either.

Have you tried the other toslink output of the flex - just in case MiniDSP have screwed up the allocation of channels
