What were the differences in the sound?

The ATC’s were mid forward as to be expected. The Genelec’s much more balanced. In my studio, after using GLM I felt the bass on the Genelec’s (with sub) was light, but I will experiment with positioning more when I buy them.

In the other studio, the difference the GLM made was astonishing. Perhaps this made the comparison with the ATC’s unfair because the GLM was doing much of the work? But the level of detail the Genelec’s had (after GLM) compared to the ATC was just so obvious.

Trying to actually compare these sorts of speakers at this price range was way harder than I imagined it would be. That’s a story for another day!

You have to interpret this correctly.
Understood that it isn’t getting any better than my 15 EUR cabel. The Cardas flagship is at best as good as my 15 EUR cable (but quite expensive).
I understand here that the USD 125 Cardas entry level cable is underperforming, which must be a serious quality issue and therefore to avoid.
Actually, not a good publicity.

Translates to my = Cardas is either broken or expensive

Seriously Pearljam5000 You are continually asking which speakers are louder than the other? What are you looking for? Some people has quite often answered your spl-related questions but you just ask the same kind of questions on weekly basis...

Um it's been clearly answered VERY many times for the Neumann and Genelec at least. They are about the same with minor differences at some frequencies. The Neumann *might* play 2-3dB louder if both have subs, without subs it's content dependent.

I've never seen measurements of the ATC and their specs have no real information so it's a wild guess. I would HOPE it plays louder than either of these speakers because it's MUCH bigger, heavier, and costs twice as much.

Cool, well I think these are the best measuring speakers here on ASR! I'd buy them too if I had infinite money and wasn't happy with my 308p's. (If my 308p's die then I might consider the investment, but by then maybe loads of other new speakers measured on here.)

A good monitor is a good monitor and should stay good if properly made, even if the tech improves and moves on as far as the state of the art is concerned
