Hello Mirror, shouldn't this update be long ?!

So I just wrapped up my first week with the DMP-A6 and I gotta say I'm really impressed. I don't think I know of another streaming product as full featured as this. Once I rearranged my local VLANS, I got about 1TB of music copied up to the SSD. I still haven't examined every crevice of the settings but this likely will do everything I need. Once I got used to the app vs the front panel differences, it came pretty easy. There are some settings in the app that aren't on the front interface and vice-versa (as far as I can tell). I'm still struggling with file management and organizing music. I installed an Android file manager to help.

My only struggle is putting together playlists. Using the A6 only, I can only add one file at a time. I got 10 songs in and said 'hang it'. Its easier to move music into separate directories and just 'play' the directory from the Files app. If anyone knows a better way, let me know. It seems to choke on .m3u files.

Since I just got it, I think most the bugs are worked out, so not in any hurry for updates. Always good to have more compatibility added though. For me though, I'm good!

For those chomping at the bit for updates, just be patient. Working for a medical hardware/software company, I can say even internally, deadlines get pushed all the time, and with software, there always seems to be surprises just when you're about to release. It comes out when it comes out. Trust me, you don't want it rushed out the door.

Soundwise, I was pleasantly surprised. At first power on, it was quite 'thin' sounding and I wanted to EQ the hell out of it, but I let it play for 5 hours or so and it seemed get better, and the last few days, its been great. I've listened on the ZMF Atrium, Caldera Closed (arrived about the same time), DCA Aeon2 Noire and the new E3. I don't know if DACs need burn-in, but something improved over several days. I've got a Cyan 2 on order so that will be nice (if it ever ships). I almost think I coulda held off. This DAC is certainly decent. I'm feeding a Schitt Midgard and a Cayin HA-3A, depending on my mood. No issues with either one. The Midguard isn't very colored so sound is pretty accurate but lacks some bass. High-end is spot on. On the Cayin HA-3A, well everything is fun. Still dialing that in but the current tubes are nice and warm with just enough bass. Added a few EQ presets, mainly for the Noire and CC so I'm good to go!

Mirror88, tell your team nice work! For a newer company, they've managed several bang-on products already and am watching for what comes next.

So I’ve gone through the manual and can’t get a clear answer on this. Can I connect my power amp and subwoofer to this unit at the same time? And if so would I be able to connect amp via XLR and subwoofer via RCA? Thanks for any help or guidance on this topic.

Yes exactly as you state power to xlr and sub to RCA and select the combined xlr/rca output.

Cool separate left and right channel peq alone is really worthwhile.

Yes it is...
But i can't understand how it still can be limited to the internal player.
Here is how you can try to understand it:

1. if it is implemented at software level, it is to be expected: only the app implementing it can offer it...
2. if it is implemented at hardware level (say, withing the XMOS) it is to be expected: every app needs to know how to use it...

I think you are asking too much. Or you just have unreasonable expectations.

1. There is no way to predict how a feature like that will impact compatibility with third parties (there's too much variation). It can actually create more problems than it is solving.
2. They can only control what the internal player can do.

In any case, why would Eversolo care about EQing external devices? they manufacture a self-contained unit

Hi

Maybe there is a big misunderstanding from my side, as I don’t own the device. I wished a DSP on whatever I feed the eversolo with, like wiim’s or minidsp’ or rme’s, I.e. a dSP for every input (port), as it is sold as a preamp too. Not just with the internal player (if I understand what it means correctly of course). What’s the point of having so many input ports if your Peq can only apply to one signal path only?
Feel free to correct me if it doesn’t work like this.

Cheers

The Eversolo DMP-A6 is not a multichannel receiver or a processor. It is a stereo streamer device, and that is a significant difference. Specially because the streamer itself is supposed to be the source. Why would you want to use the WiiM as a source? I mean, you could, but it is totally unnecessary. Use the Eversolo software and control from app. The preamp functionality has little to do with it.

To me, either you are looking it backwards or you just are looking at the wrong type of device.

So you could use the A6 as a source, and connect to an external device further down the chain that can allow you to do DSP as you please. One such device that comes to mind is miniDSP Flex Eight. This device will allow you to integrate up to four profiles with all kind of different adjustments on each one of them. This is where you preamp, not at the source. For example, you could integrate up to three pairs of speakers plus up to two subs, or just four pairs of speakers.
