It's the retail market where the behaviour is more of a problem - how many people know to look for the non-obvious end of support date, and who would expect a device that's still on sale new to have passed that date already?

I just learned a new expression and it is called "retroactive continuity":
Fortunately, Retcon has not infected Caveat Emptor... yet...
