Revel M105 Bookshelf Speaker Review

Yes, there would be a big difference upgrading to either the M105s or the M106s. Your choice between the two of those in my opinion is based on the size of your room and how close you will be to the speakers. The 105s are also quite a bit smaller, but there is only a few hertz difference in the bottom end. I have three sets of the M105s, and I actually plugged the ports (with the proper included foam plugs) because I have to place them only a few inches from the wall and there was too much bass!
Many thanks for your fast response!

My living room is about 30-35 m2 and when on the couch I would be 2,5-3 m from the speakers. I believe the M105s would be sufficient as I would not play music extremely loud anyway.

I do not know the Q Acoustics, but own M105s and use them in a room that is roughly 7x4m and sit about 2.5m away. My audiophile friends are amazed by them as they are (they tend to make even really old mono recordings as listenable as possible), but I generally pair them with subs at mid points on opposite walls for my organ music and a wee bit of fill on most other program material. As one friend said, "They're Keepers."

Picked up my M105s today. The former owner was nice enough to let me come by to test the speakers with my own setup (Peachtree Audio decco65 amplifier, SMSL SU-1 dac, RPi 4 with moOde OS). Brilliant sound, way more detail and lows compared to my old Q Acoustics 2020!

The seller also still had the M106s available so he hooked them up to test with my setup as well. Was also quite nice and almost temped to buy those but in the end went for the smaller M105s as they fit our living room and the audio/TV cabinet better.

I will be mounting these on a wall, expecting to use this mount.

Question: To affix the speakers to the mount, should I velcro the hell out of the bottom or use screws in the three holes on the bottom of the mounting plate? I don't want to screw into the sides of the speakers and I can't find a cutaway image of the M105s so I'm not sure how solid the bases are or if there is anything in there I might damage with screws.
Realize I'm replying to older post, so hopefully this question finds you....
You said that you used the 105's 3 predrilled holes to attach 105 to the wall mount hardware, so did you drill hole in the plate of the mount, or do something different?
Thanks

In the end, I drilled three small holes in the bases and screwed up into them with little black screws. They’re very solid and I don’t believe fully penetrated the bottoms. The side clamps are basically just for show. I did three pairs like this and I’m very happy with how they turned out.

I regret selling my M105. Even the F226Be didn’t give me the same smile the M105 did. Subjectively the F226Be sounded brighter, even after room corrections via MiniDSP.

I ended up with the Wharfedale Linton 85th that I bought from a family member cheap. They are okay but the wife hates the appearance of them and the sound is not as good to me subjectively as Revel M105 was.

Ugh. For what it’s worth I’m still pairing the same subs I did with the M105, 2x Rythmik F18.

Can’t buy them again since they’re OOS everywhere.

Those F6BS are also OOS.

Might try to just EQ the Linton 85ths some more.

Worst case I’ll look into Ascend and Focal bookshelves.

Those AsciLabs should be good for you right though once they come back into stock?

If you truly want the M105 send me private mail. I have a pair with little use and they look new.
I have the F328Be and the F226Be. The M105 sits alone with no listeners. :D
I think you’ll have to message me as it says your profile is limited to only those allowed.

maybe check out the philharmonic ceramic mini...the ascend sierra 1 v2 should be similar as well...

Currently I am looking to downsize for space reasons and am comparing my Revel M105s against a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 300 7Gs and the comparison is much closer than I expected. I want to eliminate a my subs and the M105s go deeper than expected. The Monitors do go deeper (and I love how they handle drums better) but the 105s surprised me.
