But I’m intrigued by the Japanese technical expertise! They typically avoid killing the sound with an excessive number of electronic components in the so-called crossover. Only one capacitor to protect the tweeters. And their speaker drivers last a long time. Just the essentials for producing sound aren’t particularly attractive without some sort of fancy cover.
What you missed is how they positioned their separate sound-producing drivers, in tubes, and on different planes. Beauty is in the sound!

Sony SS-G 9By the way Sony and many other companies made great engineered loudspeakers even 40-50 years ago but not such cheap compact boombox system ones.
Now we are talking, I know and have visited one of the biggest Technics collectors in the world who also had them in his collection despite being from the "competitor", superb loudspeakers like many Japanese reference models from that era.
