GREAT interview!

Wayne was one of my teachers. Passive crossover design for compression drivers was a 'dark art' far as I could tell, until I attended Wayne's lecture on crossover design at the 2003 Midwest audio fest. I think the hand-out from that lecture is here:

At that same show there was this demo room which was crowded so I couldn't get in but from outside the room the music playing sounded unnaturally natural, like there was actually live unamplified music being played in there. When I finally made it into the room, it was Wayne's room and in it were a pair of is 7Pi corner horns. What they did different from everything else at the show was, they got the spectral balance of the reflection field correct.

Wayne understood the benefits of constant directivity way back in the late 70's. So, probably decades before most of us even heard of the concept. He is pretty much an unknown in home audio because his day job is in another field and he mostly sells kits and does zero marketing. He has his own custom made horns which are extremely well thought-out and offer what I believe to be a unique combination of attributes. Every time I have heard his speakers at a show, they sounded superb to me.

Here is the same link cued up to where Wayne starts talking about speakers:
