Fenda T60X. Some people say, they are quite good for typical rooms in typical flats. :)

They often show speakers in really bare rooms like that. Obviously we can't see the rest of the room, but if it's equally bare, it's going to be near, if not impossible, for any speaker to sound good in it. It will just be a mess of echos, reflections and reverberation.

Interesting to see a slim speaker oriented at a 90-degree angle making it wide and shallow.
Is it a two-way design? The ribbon driver must reach pretty low, given that the bass driver is positioned so far down?

My front wall is like that—bare except for the TV mounted on it and the sideboard underneath with speakers on that. Of course, there are all sorts of items, such as flowers, vases, candleholders, and so on, on the sideboard.

I really like the wide baffle and the large-radius edge round-over, which is not needed at the top because the ribbon's directivity will not illuminate that edge anyway. And I really like that you have been able to push the crossover frequency low enough that your woofer can be positioned to take advantage of boundary reinforcement from the floor. Roy Allison bonus points if the floor-bounce notch frequency for the ribbon ends up below the crossover frequency, while the floor-bounce notch frequency for the woofer ends up above the crossover frequency, at normal listening distances.

To my eyes, which see through a form-follows-function lens, THAT sort of stuff is real beauty!

Tonsil Altus 75, iconic speakers from yesteryear, lovingly covered in artificial skin by their previous owners...that skin might've stopped the diffraction...
This speaker is a prime example of high diffraction speaker. Drivers is not flush mounted. Tweeter is not on waveguide and the baffle is neither rounded or bevelled.

That vinyl (fake leather) is for cosmetics reasons, and does not do anything to minimize diffraction

Production of this speaker began in 1984 and continued for 10 years. That was the heyday of well-designed speakers.
Even though that pair of speakers (Altus 75) is no longer in production, you can still purchase a set of speakers from that company today, allowing one to create a DIY set. Tonsil has been producing amplifiers, speakers etc since 1945.

This speaker can be on production for 20 years, but it does not mean the design is good. It could be it was decent enough and not too expensive, so it was a decent choice for that era, that's it.

If the speaker with the short coming I just described were the example of the "heyday of well-designed speakers", then I would question the knowledge of designer back then.

Diyer can do much better than this with all the tools and drivers we have today.
