And here are pictures of that, plus now those speakers are mine. You are such a teaser... or, you just forgot to letusme swoon over a photo of their x-over board.
Tip:whoopty-doo, there is a new SourcePoint speaker coming: SourcePoint 888
MoFi Electronics SourcePoint 888 Floorstanding Speakers [Pair]
Step up to MoFi's SourcePoint 888: Precision-engineered by Andrew Jones for audiophiles. These speakers deliver depth, detail, and a captivating soundstage in a sleek design.www.mofielectronics.com
With 10 inch bass drivers it would be amazing as Andrew Jones says in the video but he adds that the physical size would not appeal to the market, hence the choice of 8 inch bass drivers.Wonder when the 101010 arrives 888 is probably because the 3 eight inch drivers .
Also maybe because 8 is associated with good fortune in China and some other Asian cultures? '888' being 'Triple fortune.'Wonder when the 101010 arrives 888 is probably because the 3 eight inch drivers .
i would buy it... it would make it width-wise compact as wellJust as well for Andrew he didn’t design a 6” driver as imagine playing Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast through them?, you’d have a new PMRC lobby group being formed and it'd really piss off the nutjobs.
Hey Andrew?…………. would you mind building a 6“ drive unit?…..I have a plan.
The 888 are tempting me...I run Dynaudio in main now but I could live with these by there side. There 5k for pair ?i would buy it... it would make it width-wise compact as well
but i do really like those bass drivers, it reminds me of those lovely dynaudios, that were so good (small xmas) but i liked those bass drivers a lot, so i def. keep an eye out for these 888 for sure, i'm from europe so i need to seek for a good price, 888 are heavy so transport cost are probably higher here.
A smaller sourcepoint would approach the design of several of his past speakers at Elac. I think he did say when he announced the SP10 that he wanted to take all the things he had done before and do something new. Part of why he suggested the 10 "worked" is because with a large cone he could keep the cone movement to a minimum, providing a relatively constant behavior of the cone as a horn for the tweeter. From this I would understand that if you keep it a 2-way and continue to shrink the cone then you also have to increase the frequency at which you roll off the bass. You also end up with an LS50, which has probably already been maxed out as a solution by KEF.i would have liked to seen even more compact sourcepoint 888 (or 88), smaller depth of a speaker is important to me, but still this is great addition and look at that price!
5000...yupThe 888 are tempting me...I run Dynaudio in main now but I could live with these by there side. There 5k for pair ?
I still think there could be a market for a version with maybe a 6.5" driver, that is limited to maybe 60hz or so.A smaller sourcepoint would approach the design of several of his past speakers at Elac. Going the other direction, I'm excited by the 888. By taking the lower bass coverage off the 8" cone around the tweeter, that cone needs to move significantly less and hopefully the upper frequencies should be even that bit smoother. I might want them to be a hair taller but we'll see.
