Kef LS60 wireless review by ErinsAudioCorner

Why is this speaker getting so little attention here? Too much a lifestyle speaker? The wireless problems? Not good enough? Too expensive? Too little to tune and options to play with other components?
For me, at least, they're too expensive and Kef appears to have some issues with the electronics used in the LS50, at least. Dunno if that extends to the LS60. I do have hesitation about expensive active speakers due to the fact that if any part of the electronics go bad, the whole thing is bad. Whereas with passive speakers, you can just replace the failed electronics.

True. I had to throw away a 2 1/2 year old 2000 euro costing 82 inch lcd tv because it couldn’t be repaired (said samsung).

If my phev car battery is broken, it will cost me 3500 to replace.

On the other hand, we accept this with subwoofers? I have (and had) different active speakers, never a problem, but it indeed can be a huge problem.

It was discussed extensively a while back, for sure been quieter lately. Reviews highly praise it, sales have been helped by price drops.

Ok I feel Ive pulled off a heist - got them for £3k and with 6 year warranty from very good supplier here in UK. Will compare them to my R7 metas I have. For that price it seems no brainer, in the same Ligue and perhaps bit better than R11 meta.

The R metas have better distortion than ls60 check erins audio corner both are measured. Is the difference audible that is a separate issue.

You can lower the distortion by routing the subbass (<80hz) to one or two subwoofers.

That would probably lower distortion in this bass region only.

No.

It’s a matter of distance, volume and whether subs are involved or not. I will use it as a part of HT setup with two 13.8” subs. Room is rather small 20m2 and distance is under 3m - which ticks all the checkboxes in which those speakers can thrive. To me price was one of the issues and unless I could get them at certain price I would not pull the trigger. For that price they can replace R7 meta and an extra amp I have which will cover the price. Second issue was limited 2 year warranty - way too low and therefore affecting resale value. 6 year warranty, transferable addresses that completely - so if I get bored of them in few years I should be able to get my money back. I think it’s a smart approach to toys that usually devalue massively.
So they need to be as good as R7 meta for me to be happy with them - which i should based on many reviews. Ideally I would've listened to them first but this wasn’t I was planning on buying. Additional benefit is I won’t need to l turn on the AVR, amps, TV and Apple TV to play music anymore.

BTW could anyone share how do you setup ht bypass/unity gain on them and how well does that work? Any issues workarounds worth to know?

Speakers arrived - forgot what a pain in the ass is to get all setup. Those little speakers weight a literal tone but unpacking system make it easy enough to handle. Well first audition done… wow. Totally worth the hassle. I thought with my Arcam AV40, M28, Dirac, R7 meta, subs I heard details… boy I was wrong. Absolutely love them. Even more so that I love that via simple airplay. Bye, bye upgraditis, farewell. Literally can’t imagine better sound. Don’t want to.

Edit: even my partner likes the looks, smaller size and did indeed notice how much better it sounds.
In my room I’m seriously thinking I don’t need a sub for them, I’m little curious with room correction and subs if they would sound better. Via Arcam rca - it sounds bit worse, hum coming off them probably doesn’t help here either - but found simple rca noise loop isolator should do the trick - good praise Amazon - fingers crossed tomorrow should be fixed. On a side note - i have set them on AUX to unity gain at 71 but at my Arcam I need to max out at +10db to level match them with others which are at -1 to -5db. Once I get noise isolator I will run Dirac and see what comes out of it. I wonder if getting new Bluesound node icon with Dirac would make sense - I could room correct it and output via digital coax so no ADC happening
