BTW, we got no break from Danny on buying the fancy parts which cost quite a fortune relative to the speaker.
Did you get the tube connectors which bring this to another level? Make sure you get them and test them.I have the voodoo version of the crossover which Rick was kind enough to build. I just haven't had time to spend on it to see what it does. It is on my TODO list though.
Tube connectors were out of stock at the time and outrageously priced. So we passed on that.Did you get the tube connectors which bring this to another level? Make sure you get them and test them.
I believe after his next level tube connectors, you'd need Danny's next level ears to hear the difference he hears.Tube connectors were out of stock at the time and outrageously priced. So we passed on that.
I think not anymore.Quite the salesman Danny is.
I think I can save you $50. Danny claims that they sound great because they are low mass and non-magnetic. Terminal blocks made of copper should meet the criteria. Similar to what Vandersteen does.Tube connectors were out of stock at the time and outrageously priced. So we passed on that.
Ha!Maybe it was the sand cast resistors and cheesy inductors ;-)
I have to take this comment back. 15-20 years ago, they might have been a success when they were selling for $199/pair.So anyway, I’d call these a success.
It's this one https://gr-research.com/product/m130-woofer/What is the actual woofer used in these??
I have a pair of Encores with XO upgrades that sound better than most of the other 16 models of standmounts included in our August 27th SpeakerFest 2022 Event here
in the Phoenix area. I believe it was John Curl who is credited with the statement " Measurements are meant to confirm what our ears tell us". I tend to agree.
