AKM DACs, 12v trigger, I2S output and XLR input. Same op amp and femto clock as A6ME. Not sure I see anything that would compel me to buy this over the A6ME I already own? I have compared the AKM velvet DACs with ESS in my setup and I heard nada diff. I love to buy new toys but this may be a skip for me.

I think it's a shame that Eversolo didn't opt for a dual AKM DAC like the SMSL D 400 EX or Gustard A 26 for a device in this price range. See if the linear power supply and volume control of the new R2R will give a better sound audibly.

As we have discussed many times you can’t get ‘better’ than audibly transparent you can add distortion which you may prefer.

Keith,

Okay for transparency and distortion, I find the A8 promising, very nice streamer, we'll see the measurements if Amir tests it, even with a complementary DAC like me with the possibility of listening to both DACs. I'll see in a few months if I sell the Rose and the DMP, as I only need a streamer, depending on feedback from the new owners. I like Eversolo and its software, but there was another bug on the Rose with Qobuz following an update, and the system (Android 7) is getting a bit dated...

The DMP-A8 (from the published photos) does indeed show:

that it has OPA1612AIDRGT op-amps.

But what the DMP-A6 & DMP-A6 Master Edition have is unverified.
There is no official mention from Eversolo nor any high-res photos of the model internals.

So far, afaik, any op-amp difference is only claimed by re-sellers.

The A6 Standard has the 1642 and the Master has the 1612. There is no mystery about it.

Says who?
Says Lee Harvey Oswald?

Honestly, you sound like a conspiracy theorist. I've opened my Masters and has the Accusilicon and OP1612 are there just as described by "those that seek to fool us" - otherwise know as, "the others." I have no reason to believe the OP1642 isn't sitting just inside the Standard.

Conspiracy theorist? Really?

What do you understand from this??

I think there are many of us that would have liked to have seen an HDMI out with Atmos pass-through and 7.2.1+ multichannel capabilities (for surround/spatial music) on the A8 instead of the I2S output.

The FCC testing was likely required for a clock change (to Femto on Master) but a change in opamp may not have required. The OP1642 and OP1612 are pin compatible so even in photos posted you cannot see a difference. If I open mine again I'll take pics for you of the silkscreening on the opamps. Otherwise, your asserstion that the Master may not have OP1612's in it remain in the "prove me wrong" category.

I didn't say that the Master does not have OPA1612 - I said it's unconfirmed.

Here's an image I just took from my own A6 Master edition:

So which OPA is this?
I can find anything with these markings in the TI part markings search.

So, please show me where and how exactly you base your (and the various reseller) claim that:
a. the A6 and A6 Master have different op-amps, and
b. which ones they actually have?

See no reason to discuss this issue, as standard A6 is measured fine (transparent) and master will do same or slightly better (without audible improvement, probably).

The word science has been used in the sense of "the state of knowing", not simply as the state/comparison of measurements.
In this case I state that there is a hypothesis that needs proof.

type ovii in the markings search field on your TI link. Should come up with OP1612 (2 results) - at least it did for me.
