Dirac ART is now running on beta FW for Denon Xx800H AVRs!

The page is also online on the US website (you just have to change the "de-de" to your country :

So yeah it's definitely coming soon ! Let's cross our fingers for the BF sale starting on monday.
how much of a reduction should we expect from the BF sale?

Thanks for the information.
I haven't seen any proper comparison between Dirac & MultEQ-X... It's a shame every testers compare Dirac Live Full & XT32 only.

I had Dirac Live and MQX (different AVRs at different times but back to back). I like MQX substantially more.

ART is gonna be another ball game though. So I’m waiting for that to be out a stable. Then I’ll be getting an AV10

Thanks for your answer. What was your target curve with multeq-x ? It's 149€/$ this week, I'm hesitating to buy it...
I'm also wondering if ART would be useful with my speakers because I got 3 subs, 3 big front speakers (crossover 60Hz and 38Hz -3dB) but 6 "small" surround and height speakers (crossover 120Hz). The small ones won't be able to cancel the frequencies of the front, right ?

Largely flat which ended up boosting my high end. However, typically that’s “ill-advised”, however, I really liked the sound.

It’s my understanding that you don’t need large surrounds to have them cancel other speakers. All of the “support speakers” play a role. Also, you can put one of your subs as a supporting role. I’m only speaking from what I’ve read or seen on YouTube.

The Dirac BF sale is online until sunday but still no news about the U32 firmware

Since the website already says DBLC is available I‘ve asked support. They were very surprised the website already announced it, and were careful to say that around December would be an expected date for the next update release, but things may always shift back.

Then again, that‘s just first-level support.

The wait is over (for DLBC at least). DLBC will roll out by the end of this month, probably earlier

Is the wait really over if it's still not available yet and ready to buy on DL's BF sale? No we're still waiting and hoping it's available for the sale this week...

In fact, if you now check that page again, they have now stripped out all reference to DLBC.

At least with DIRAC you can transfer the license with the device to a secondary buyer. For Audyssey it's locked to an email address. So unless you've planned ahead and made an email address you intend to transfer on, that purchase is lost once the AVR is sold.

In fact, that is a real show stopper for me. I know how problematic was my sale of Denon x3500h, to get a good value. NOONE will pay anything for your licence, its non transferability will be regarded as being your problem. That factor makes it really tough to send your unit to the after market. I would in fact much more prefer the varaint, to have an account with Dirac / Audyssey, and simply to login to that account, just the same, as you do with the TVs, Heos, etc. I am radical on that and consider licence assigned to the device as being a real disgrace by both companies.

I've been following this thread and the one at AVS since my AVR-X4800H purchase a few weeks back... patiently waiting for the DLBC firmware and the Dirac BF sale.

Given the Denon Announcement that Dirac Live included DLBC, I went ahead and purchased Dirac Live Room Correction with Full Bandwidth.

Now Denon has has striped out the DLBC language after my Dirac purchase. Hopefully this is simply because the Denon firmware with DLBC hasn't been officially released. Denon support is going to get an ear full if they want to add another upgrade fee to add DLBC.

Be prepared to give them an earful, because unfortunately DLRC-FB never included DLBC so unless you paid $349 + $499 USD pre-BF discount (which isn't an option possible currently) then your license doesn't include DLBC and you'll have to pay the extra $499 after BF if you want it, when/if becomes available. This pricing is consistent across all the devices listed on Dirac website.

That's not how this was advertised by Denon.

Denon clearly stated DLBC was now available with Direct Live license purchase and provided a link to their partner for the purchase.

Good luck, we'll be rooting for yea, a DLBC license looks like this and you must already have a DLRC-FB license to upgrade:

I think you completely misunderstood something... Denon never advertised it like this. They just say it is already available for purchase which isn't the case.

The Denon / Marantz verbiage seems to me to have consistently stated that all Dirac licences were optional and at an extra fee (from Dirac) .... all D&M were doing was the required integration work to enable Dirac on their AVR's...

Costing (and seperation between) of DL, DLBC etc... was always up to Dirac - and Dirac have themselves been consistent.

Thanks to the BF sale I've bought the DL Full Bandwith licence yesterday and set it up.
I also reran the Audyssey App on my iPad to compare Audyssey XT32 (via the App) vs DLFB and actually I like both. I expected the sound to be clearer with Dirac (especially on my Center speaker) but not so much.
At louder level I pref the Dirac for movies but my neighbours will probably hate me so I'll stick with Audyssey (with Dynamic Compression) most of the time (at night at least). And I pref music on my stereo amplifier (Lyngdorf TDAI 1120) most of the time. So it was not the best investment I made but I'll move to a bigger flat soon so maybe on a different room there will be more differences between Audyssey & Dirac.
