Dirac ART is now running on beta FW for Denon Xx800H AVRs!

Interesting. When you say ART ‚was‘ planned for 24, does this mean it‘s scratched, or that plans have changed?

DLART has also already been implemented, but will not be rolled out until the beginning of '24.

Hi,

Could you provide a reliable source to that statement? This very forum thread was the first time I ever saw any mention of ART support on current gen denon receivers. And the only official denon statements I found regarding dlbc are from old interviews in which they expected dlbc support to be added in 2024. While I am willing to believe dlbc support goes live this month, I so far have not seen any compelling evidence that Dirac ART will run on x3800h and x4800h...

Here's your proof that DLBC is coming to DM avrs

The only thing I've seen on the internet that gives me a glimmer that they might release DL-ART on the X4800 is from a Masimo Consumer DL Training video where they show that DL-ART Beta has been installed on a X4800 since Sept 2022.

This means very little as in-house beta testing is just that and no guarantee of a commercially viable product but at least they have been beta testing them together.

Thanks, to both of you. I can get behind the statements "DLBC will come to current Denon AVRs" and "Dirac ART is being tested in house on an x4800h, possibly, just judging from installed firmware and licenses". Those statements are, however, very different from what pogo has been saying.

Nitpicking here: the first screenshot only gives an ETA for a press kit on DLBC (mid November), not DLBC itself (as I said, so far "some time in 2024" is all I ever found confirmed).

Pogo sounded surprisingly confident when claiming "dlbc mid November" and "art was planned for 2024". I just wondered whether they had found something I wasn't aware of.

What makes you think it has been installed on a X4800?

Easy, in the video Phil logs into his DL account and has 2 device options; Marantz AV10 and Denon X4800, he selects X4800 and those are his licenses listed under that device. He selects the 1st DL licenses and continues with the X4800 DL demo.

I quickly watched parts of the video. It appears you are mixing up things. He is not selecting devices before that licenses screen appears. Those are all his Dirac licenses and he says that he has licenses for 4 different AVRs. (And that ART license actually is for the computer test version of ART.)

"That ART license actually is for the computer test version of ART."

Licenses are tied to devices not computers, change device you need new license, change computer you still use existing license - but with regards to DL-ART on X4800 time will tell.

Dirac, Audyssey and Anthem ARC are basically EQ systems with some impulse/phase correction

None of those attempt to do any active "correction" of room effects....

Dirac ART does active correction - similar to active noise cancelling headphones - in addition to and on top of the EQ and phase/impulse correction. - That makes it fundamentally different.
What about Sony avr room correction?

What about Sony avr room correction?
I'm not sure, but I believe the Sony software is more intended to correct for less than ideal speaker locations, ie: virtually shifting the speakers to where they need to be for the illusion of immersion, rather than any sort of correction for room interaction... in theory it is similar to some of what Trinnov does, but Trinnov has a more sophisiticated version, and it sits on top of the base of room correction - where the Sony product doesn't have the room correction aspect. - Would be nice to get both, without the arm and a leg price impost of the trinnov product!

Do you have the original AVS post? The link you posted states it's available now in Germany but the link they post in the article is for the standard DL-Denon page and it still has no DLBC option. I wondering if there is DE page of Dirac live or if they auto detect your Geo location and provide options base on that. Time to change VPN location and see what that brings.

Update: DE IP no difference, others on AVS are finding the same thing, and they think it will go 'live' when U32 is released on the 17th but not sure from whom that date is originally coming from.

But got to get props to Exalix for the forecast of DLBC and timing

Here‘s a screenshot from the German page. Basically, „starting now“ DLBC is available.

The page is also online on the US website (you just have to change the "de-de" to your country :

So yeah it's definitely coming soon ! Let's cross our fingers for the BF sale starting on monday.
