Cheap class D amps. Andrew Robinsons take.

I would consider to carefully listen to any of his reviews before any What HIFI magazine review every day.

They aren't reviews. It is a commercial arrangement which he doesn't hide.

There is zero credibility, just cutesy production values and a highly animated talking head. Lifestyle channel BS.

I like his discussion about ergonomics and usability and he’s doing some smoothed in-room frequency measurements, but yeah, it’s just entertainment.

I did n’t watch all of the video, what’s Kristi look like??

There's a badly photoshopped image of them both "in Paris" on his website.

But any wife/partner that puts up with a partner who obsesses over HiFi is awesome in my book.

I propose a one month ban for a first offence ASR member who posts an Andrew Robinson video link.

Second offence is an automatic permanent ban with no appeal allowed. ;)
He is so.. Caught up in himself. Can't find the right word for it. But he's almost tasting his own words and loving every second of it. And when all he says is superflous empty sales gibberish with no concrete meaning it's just a waste of bytes and time.

Danger... Robinson;

I love his reaction whenever his wife disagrees with him (he doesn’t like it). And I’ve only watched a few times, but in each video he has made a point about how good his “golden ear” is vs his wife.

I watched this particular video and his comments seemed disingenuous and more a function of the diminished affiliate revenue opportunities these devices offered.

Like all good wives, she can clearly hear the differences from the kitchen...

I didn't worry about the "high pitched" sound thing at all. BUT, my wife woke me up at 5Am this morning and said the high pitched noise coming from the speakers was driving her crazy (first time I left Fosi Amp and SMSL DAC on after I fell asleep). Now I'm a bit worried.

Is the whine coming from the speakers? Or from the Amp, DAC, or the power supplies. Perhaps check with an SPL meter on your cell phone. I have discovered my toaster oven has an annoying high pitch whine at around 6kHz-8kHz (I forget exactly). At first I thought it was my Fosi ZA3 and Wiim setup in the kitchen. But a little searching around revealed it to be the oven.

I have a similar problem with a AA/AAA battery recharging station that whines once batteries are topped off. I thought maybe it might be my desktop system or PC, but it took a few minutes with my phone's SPL meter to locate the whine at the charging startion.

I also have a pair of Outlaw 2220's that periodically produce 5kHz ~40-45dB whine from the power supply section of the amp (audibly from the amp, not from the tweeters on my connected speakers. That one is annoying as it is not consistent, some days it whines, some days it doesn't, and it might just start and stop midday. Standby or full on doesn't seem to affect it.

In another instance, we have had a batch of lighting control motion sensors at work that sometimes develop a 13kHz whine. Took a bit of work with the trusty phone and APL app to find the culprit. Replaced those right away.
