Hi all. Can anyone advise between these two integrated amplifiers? They are both available in Australia at a good price at the moment ($849AUD for the A-S701, and $899AUD for AMC XIA 150). Will be used with an external DAC to drive my nearfield monitors, Dynaudio BM6 (nominal impedance of 4 ohm, sensitivity of 86db @ 2.83 V/1m).

Old thread, I know, but nobody answered, so...:)

The only test I found about XIA 150 is this one here: https://scontent.fotp1-1.fna.fbcdn....=ffbfd4bd2d0f4a4bc59400e9c54db7fd&oe=5FA7ABFE, so not much info in there, but if there was something bad those small graphs would show up something.

About A-S701 you can find lot of info here: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ts-about-the-internals-few-measurements.9459/, with links to some well-conducted tests too.

Seems that XIA 150 is has a bit more power (1KHz sweep) 161/246 Watts/ch. @0.1% THD vs. 125/199 Watts/ch. @0.1% THD (per https://www.audioholics.com/amplifi...1-amplifier-review/yamaha-a-s801-measurements graphs). Also, dynamic/music power tests show same small difference too: 180/269 Watts/ch. for XIA 150 vs. 156/260 Watts/ch. for A-S701.

However, without seeing an internal schematic for the AMC amplifier and without more in-depth tests I can't tell much about this amp, but I'm sure it's a very competent one and probably in an A/B test between XIA 150 and A-S701 it would be hard to impossible to tell the differences.

I own a amc and paid way more than the price you state, it’s a good solid amp, but it starts off very bright and about an hour into listening comes down to a nice mellow, from my experience with Yamahas the amc has better bass and treble controls, but if your considering the amc be wary as they do start at a base model for the 150 and go up with more features eg some don’t have the phono inputs
