Hi,

I am looking for a new stereo amp for my new Nuboxx B30 for two reasons:
1) I think I may need more power, but I'm not sure.
2) I want small amp on desk instead of HiFi amp on floor below desk.

Application:
- nearfield desktop use
- small room
- usually quiet/room volume

Disclaimer:
- I am not an audiophile
- room and speaker positioning are suboptimal
- just want a nice sounding, compact, cost effective setup

Some speaker specs:
- Nominal Impedance: 4 Ohm
- Sensitivity (2.83V/1m): 85,0 dB
- Sensitivity (1W/1m): 82,0 dB
- Continous Power: 110W
- Peak Power: 140W

Impedance/Phase/EPDR curve:

EPDR curve drops below 2 Ohm and speaker efficiencyis low, thats why I'm thinking more peak power may be necessary.

Currently I'm using Pioneer A307R, entry level Class AB.
- 8 Ohm: 2x45W
- 4 Ohm: 2x80W

Signal Source:
- Mainboard sound for now
- unfortunately no Toslink

What I need:
- 1x RCA in
- Volume knob

Nice to have:
- remote

What I don't need:
- Bluetooth, without LC3 support no interest
- pre-out
- DAC, BUT if it is good via USB I'll take it

Devices of interest:
- Aiyima A07
- Aiyima A07 MAX
- Fosi V3, don't like the two switches on the frontpanel
- Sabaj A20a 2022
- Loxje A40
- Topping PA5 II

Other recommendations are welcome. Will never buy devices with perma-on, non-dimmable, blue text LED screens.

What I fear:
- load variant FR
- channel imbalance @ low volumes
- channel crosstalk, Fosi V3 / Aiyima A07 Max?
- audible hiss
- buggy amps

Wouldn't mind modding amp to fix issues, like swapping poti if it's reasonable to do but a properly working amp out of the box is preferred.

What are your thoughts and recommendations? Do I actually need a more powerful amp to drive my speakers properly?

Low cost solutions preferred, could use that money otherwise, e.g. miniDSP or some nice stands. Sure the Topping is a nicer amp than the A07 but cost more than twice as much.

Thank you!

I would go for a second-hand NAD M10. Dirac Live is included here.
Under no circumstances should you take a mediocre class AB because of the EPDR and the efficiency.

It seems that with this speaker (impedance of 8 Ohm at 10kHz and raising) and not compensated output filter, you will get a lot of elevated treble.

This behavior will be similar with non-compensated TPA3255 (Wiim Amp, Fosi v3, Za3, BT20a pro, BT30d pro, Aiyima A07, A07 Pro, A07 Max, D325x, et al), or Infineon MA5332MS (SMSL AO200 mk2, AL200 ...) So I would avoid all of those.

From your list that leaves you with Topping PA5 II (compensated TPA3255).
