I think they're trying to see if it's possible... The Mini isn't a very powerful device.

But how cool is that: they are trying to - free of charge - get almost end-game PEQ on a $100€ device. How many companies would say "welp, sorry, we're doing that on our BRAND NEW model, and it's gonna cost you only 200 currency more than our previous model"?

I have a pair of old cheap B&W bookshelves somewhere and I'm tempted to buy the WiiM Amp to make it an interim living room music+TV solution until we redecorate it and I find money for a better audio system.

Yeah, I have a setup with an old 2 channel amp from a dumpster I'm using which is fed my analog from my ten band realistic stereo EQ. This device would clean up my setup and greatly simplify it. So likely a purchase for me if it goes on ANY discount. Lol

I put in a feature request on the Wiim forum for auto “loudness” EQ using Fletcher Munson curves. With the auto EQ, the approximate speaker sensitivity could be ascertained and the loudness contours matched appropriately. I imagine this would require even more processing power than adding the extra EQ bands, so might not be feasible. Would be a great feature though.

It’s funny. At first they said that wanted to increase PEQ to 8 band on all models. Then they said they’re bring in room correction for all models. Then they updated the roadmap for each device, but PEQ increases and room correction were on all devices, except the Mini.

Then in a later post they said they still wanted to bring this to the Mini.

Time will tell.
Sorry if this has already been asked, but where do they post the contents of their updates? I will be impatiently refreshing the app for that new firmware.

Purchased one for my sons house. Very impressive looking physically. I’ve used the WiiM software and once again it was rock solid. Set up was a breeze. Running into a set of older JBL tower speakers that I gave him that can sound very nice with the right input… And this worked very well. Sounds great, looks great, works great. For 300 bucks!

To me, the kicker is that he can then add a mini puck and an old amp to a set of speakers in the garage and sync everything up.

I saw that the other day.

I was considering a used Heos HS2 off ebay since I have other HEOS products in my house. I could just connect that to my DAC & Speakers... or just straight to the speakers (active) if the DAC is good enough. Right now I use a LDAC box in my bedroom for sleeping.

Settings/ Release Notes in the WiiM Home App, or the relevant entries on the link below. Note that it can take a week or so for these to be updated after an actual release.

I think that there are different people who answer behind the WiiM Support and WiiM Team profiles, maybe some closer to development than others. Plus I guess info also changes as they get feedback from the dev teams about the feasibility or progress of different features. I still haven’t figured out who I’m actually speaking to in my interactions with them…

The 10-band PEQ will come to more devices (possibly even the Mini!).
Where have they mentioned an intention to implement 10 band PEQ? Or to increase beyond 4 band on the Mini?

The "official" roadmap pages for the various devices (generally not updated since Feb 12) still state 8-band on Pro/Pro+/Amp and no additional PEQ on the Mini. I also looked through the Amp discussion thread on the Wiim forums (linked above) and couldn't find anything about 10 bands.

Has someone confused the currently implemented 10-band graphic EQ with the claimed/announced future expansion of parametric EQ?

Wiim have confirmed it over in the Wiim Forum. Explicitly mentioned 10 bands instead of 8 and that they're working on adding it to all current models, including the Mini.

would be surprised if the situation changed regarding the mini and its power-memory limit..no?
( not same forum..)
Maybe a recent firmware update added more RAM and a few more CPU cores?

I'm continually surprised at what Wiim are doing, free of charge.
Maybe they overestimated the memory required to run 10 band? I'm certainly no expert, but I'm sure I read somewhere more cores aren't necessarily required, but I couldn't explain why. I'm certain Wiim know more than I do, that's for sure, so they may have found a way.

I'm not a computer expert at all and I wonder why just a few bands, comparable to the current ones, haven't just been added since September for pro and pro plus... ??
any ideas from programming specialists???

Nothing is "just a few simple keystrokes"

And the development pipeline must be prioritised.
