What headphones would you like Amir to measure next?

yah, the quietcomforts and the XM4s

he has a DT880 600o on the way now. my prediction from listening to them is that they're not going to be as bright as the 990s but that they'll have a noticeable dip in the midrange

Except I dont think he has tested them in Bluetooth operation- likely due to the challenges of getting his testing signals into them.

$150 HE 400se... Particularly distortion measurements..

It's possible it may be the HP equivalent of the $9 Apple Dongle..

I could probably part with my Aeon 2 Closed for a week or two. I'm not sure what the protocol is for getting "on the list" or what the timing would be.

I'm happy to send my Sennheiser IE40 Pros over.

That's the first I've heard of the HEX4, on their website they say it's a mix of the HE4XX and HE5XX, they've got a frequency response measurement done on a B&K that shows HE4XX vs HEX4:

On the plus side for the HEX4, it has better bass extension to 20Hz (but loses out in the rest of bass, so no real change in bass abilities when thinking about it), although it doesn't have the 5.5kHz dip, so it might turn out (when measured on a more bonafide GRAS unit) that HEX4 is easier to EQ to the Harman Curve than the HE4XX. Yeah, I'd like to see the HE-X4 reviewed.

EDIT: also less distortion in the HEX4:

EDIT#2: not sure why the HEX4 is only $129 and the HE4XX is $180, as the distortion measurements would indicate HEX4 is technically better, however it's probable that the HE4XX is a more accurate headphone without EQ, as the HEX4 is lacking even more energy in the 1-3kHz area, which is also the same area that the HE4XX needed boosting, so HE4XX is probably a more accurate headphone out of the box.

And quite possibly just a repackage of the HE400se drivers. Same 91 sensitivity, 25 ohm impedance and 7-bar magnets. Another HE5XX/Deva 'repeat'..

Need HE400se review also
Edit:
Andrew/Resolve just published FR and Distortion Gras graphs for both:

Seems they are different drivers - slightly. HE400se has rounded edge magnets. HEX4 does not. Personally. for $20, I'd go with the better yoke and headband of the HE400se.

Fair enough, I'm not familiar with details of the HE5XX and HE400se.

Meze Empyrean would be very interesting I’m curious how well that unique driver functions.. expensive though

That's what I'm thinking, too.

I have a brand new set of Sennheiser HD58x I would be willing to send for analysis. I also have a set of Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro's on the way that could send out after that. Any interest in ether?

hopefully he can get to the dt880s i sent him so that the fellow who bought them from me can receive them? otherwise, i'm currently very happy with the abyss drama.

What type of a backlog is there for reviews? How long have your DT 880's been gone?
