3. I had to build a new stand to test the Magnepan LRS for the speaker measurement gear. Once there, it took half a day to measure it and entire yesterday to analyze and prepare the results.
So, what I’m hearing is that it‘s coming soon?

Just kidding, and man those garden & washing machine issue do seem stressful.

I'm not here to cause trouble.. I was just asking a question about a review he promised in July... It's all good ... I got my response.. And the dude got to vent to the choir..

I’d like to second the JBL Studio 570s. They look cool and I like the big horn with low crossover and dual mid drivers. Seem capable of unusually nice directivity, low distortion, high SPL, and sound quality for the money. Would be interesting to see how the unorthodox design really performs.

I am reading positive reviews all over the web about the French Triangle Borea BR2 and BR3 (bookshelf) and BR8 (floor standing).

I'd be curious to see how do they react to ASR dreadful scrutiny...

The BR3 especially, that are the average ones of the army...

So, among dishwasher and gardening issues, I kindly ask to add them to the long list of suggested reviews :):)

A pair of 3-way floorstanders for the princely sum of £119.00 - what could possibly go wrong?

I dread to see the "crossover" (any bets on whether it's more than two electrolytics, if that?).

I'll be very surprised if these aren't a big jumbled mess either way, complete with dispersion all over the place, a rollercoaster frequency response and high driver Qts and otherwise poor performance (and let's not get started about formaldehyde in the cabinet). Skytronic is basically white van class. Even the Chinese are incapable of working wonders.

I guess seeing something like these measured may be worth it just for contrast.

Probably right, but interesting nevertheless, just out of curiosity.

The Egg speaker you mentioned is self powered with 20watt (LowFreq) and 5watt (HighFreq) amps built-in:
Details:

Kef also makes E30X speakers, which have a similar (if not exact) shape egg shape speaker.
Measurements from hifitest.de below of E301c (center channel):
1601325109055.png

Ignore the purple line, which is the subwoofer.
Notice the rolloff below 200hz...they lack bass. (of course, look how tiny they are).
Comparison btw satellite and center:

Source
As you can see the, the center channel (E301c) is basically the same as the Satellite (E301), just in horizontal orientation.
So the measurements above is a good indication of this Egg design.

I don't want to side track thread, but does anyone know if there are measurements anywhere of some other similar speakers such as the Focal Dome? I'm looking for some good Atmos speakers for mounting high on walls (with high ceiling). Surprised how high those Eggs roll off from when technically response is +-3 to 90Hz. Eye-opening.

Measured by SoundAndVision.

Ignore the light-blue, which is a sub.
Dôme Flax: 4 in flax/composite cone woofer (1), 1 in aluminum-magnesium inverted-dome tweeter (1); 5.69 x 6.75 x 5.63 in (WxHxD), 4.19 lb
The –3-dB point is at 133 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 112 Hz.
