Contemporary big JBL anyone?

Stratton Acoustics demonstrated the Elypsis 1512 at the recent Ascot Hi-Fi show.

Apparently Bruno Putzeys liked them!

I think it's just the way they show the frequency response it also says -6db@28Hz. But yeah For something that huge and €70,000 might get a bit more.

Frequency Responses45Hz to 18kHz ±2dB
Low Frequency Cut-off-6dB @ 28Hz

If we get them I will post some measurements, big JBLs are not dissimilar though in terms of extension.

I can't un-see, and I want them badly, and I don't even care what they sound like...

I thought a JBL blue for the baffle?

Must be awful off-axis what with a 29mm tweeter crossing to a 300mm midrange at 2.5KHz. Further compounded by the horizontal orientation of the tweeter/mid.

Have I missed something?

The dynamics....

I don’t think spl’s will be a problem.

Surely just get a big JBL with a proper waveguided tweeter and well controlled directivity.

I don’t think the old 4350’s are that common, having said that you would probably be about to buy a handful for the price of the Elypsis.
Keith

GET.IT.KLIPPEL'd.

I love it - big, ugly and optional custom paint to make it look like a 4350/55. Almost.

I would go for a JBL ‘blue’ baffle.
