Spirits, what you drinking...

That's Canada.

Never quite acquired the taste for gin.
Buddy I went through some training with recently was a gin and pickled mushroom drinker, I had to go get some Eagle Rare to drink with him after the first night.

He switched to bourbon with me the next night.

Been drinking a lot of Ranch Waters lately though.

Nothing more refreshing than a gin and tonic. But if one puts tonic in it, the gin isn’t as important—anything decent will do. Had one yesterday at Mad Dog and Beans in mid-town New York. So much better than the usual margarita before Mexican food.

Bulleit Rye... Paper Plane (originally a bourbon cocktail)

Equal parts
Rye : Amaro Nonino : Aperol : Lemon Juice
Shake with ice, strain into cocktail glass, no garnish.

(I tend to like mine just a little stiff on the Rye, a little light on the lemon.)

Argonaut Fat Thumb Brandy, Blend 2

This is some nice stuff at a reasonable price point. After all, I've had some rare tipples that made me hope for a snifter of Korbel instead! But not this. ;)

Gin'n tonic is the order of the afternoon. Great bevy for warm weather.

Viuex Carre

3/4 oz ea
Bulleit Rye
Fat Thumb Brandy
Carpano Antica

1/2 oz
Benedictine

2 Dash ea.
Angostura
Peychaud's

Stir and strain, serve up, garnish with cherry or lemon zest

I've always been a fan of the Viuex Carre. It is a stunningly delicious cocktail. The Brandy and the Benedictine are the key ingredients. A rough Brandy is hard to overcome; fortunately this Fat Thumb is smooth (almost to a fault). The Benedictine acts as a sweetener, but the herbal characteristics can also easily overwhelm and I often tone it back slightly, two tsp usually does the trick instead of 1/2 oz (1 Tbsp).

Slainte!

Older pre-2018 bottling. Only 2 bottles left in my stash. Not as good as the fabulous deep pre-2013 bottlings from the pre-Edrington caskings but a league above the stuff they try to pass off today in a prettier bottle with inferior liquid. I hate you, Edrington Group, for debasing such a fine elixir.

A nice cold A&W Root Beer.
On occasion adding a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream.
While smokin a nice bit of first class herb . ;)
None better on a beautiful Central Florida summer day.
