Singxer SA-1 Review (Balanced Headphone Amp)

Singxer posted earlier in this thread they will remove this jumper from future amps, since a DAC with considerable DC offset combined with cap bypass / DC coupling, could damage upstream gear. The only effect that could show up would be below 20Hz and it would be tiny. Those 'improvements' people write about are surely in their head lol.
Hey Veri, Currawong came out with his review of the SA-1. He is really strongly pushing the jumpers mod. Is he just imagining things? I am skeptical of voiding the warranty on my SA-1 by opening it up. I wish Amirm had one to do actual testing for this.

Don't do it.

It's convenient to test DC protection circuit i suppose.
So in normal use, what's the danger in doing the jumper mod on the Singxer SA-1? Will it blow up the SA-1 amp or will it destroy my headphones or IEMs? I'm using the Gustard X16 which I connect to the SA-1 with balanced XLR cables. With this setup, is it safe to do the jumper mod on my SA-1 amp? Thank you for your input John Yang.

As it does have protection circuit I don't necessarily see danger. But if the dc level is between threshold and a few mV there can be pop sounds when turning on or plugging in.

Void if removed warranty stickers have no legal standing here in Australia. And in the US they are illegal and you have the right to open up anything and not extinguish your warranty/guarantee rights.

In Australia, merely making false representations in relation to extinguishing or limiting a consumer's rights to remedy under our Australian Consumer Law can get companies fined millions of dollars.

I did compare with and without and in my quick test I didn't hear any clear different.

One more thing, in his review he said he didn't hear any difference between Yggdrasil and Bifrost with connecting both in RCA/XLR and use the switch to hear both.

Thank you for your input JohnYang because I'm very tempted to do the mod.

So the mod is useless then?

I suppose for people that can hear the differences, it would be important to them and not at all useless :D. For me, I will not do the mod as first I don't want to void the warranty and secondly I'm already satisfied with the sound.

Thank you for your feedback guys. I hope more SA-1 owners can share their thoughts on the changes or no changes after the mod.

What would you guys pair with the sinxer as an entry level dac? The Sinxer is already stretching my budget somewhat. Would like to remain under 1000 for AMP + DAC, but under 800 would be even better.

Was looking at SMSL sanskrit or SMSL M300 (Both MK II). Has anyone tried that, or should you really go higher priced dac to match the Singxer performance?

Question is what your needs are.

Honestly, not much.
PC usb input. Another digital input would be nice for future flexibility.
Desk setup, pre-amp of Singxer will be used for a seperate speaker amp with speakers.

Hi Joost, I got a Soncoz LA-QXD1 with my Singxer SA-1 and love it. Easily meets your needs, measures really well, good build quality, balanced output and pretty cheap for what you get (got mine for under 190€ on amazon).

Decided to order the SA1 and the SMSL SU9. They are both highly regarded by the "subjective" audiophiles and the "objective" audiophiles. Since I am still not completely sure where I sit in all of this, seemed like a very safe choice :)

Thnx for all the replies to make my choice easier (or sometimes harder :p)

I had weird experiment recently.
I tired 2 DAC to power SA-1, SMSL M500 & Singxer SDA-6.

The M500 should output 6.8V and SDA-6 only 4.6V, however the sound volume is much higher with SDA-6 even it output less voltage ⚡.
I recorded a video and I will upload it later to show the volume change when I switch manually input ( only XLR ).

What could be the explanation?
