we have a no-vehicles island, too 80km from where I live. The funny thing is it takes zero hours to get used to it, and you don't ever think about it.
The island pseudoid mentioned can be quite steep, so the transportation of goods and people were done via horse carts. (now its mostly electrical vehicles I hear) Getting used to no cars were immediate indeed, but getting used to the smell of horse shit took some time :)

OT: That island was the proverbial 'mine oyster'. You learned that walking and swimming where not the "chores" as they have become in our finicky but civilized world.

<< present day.
Horse+Buggy dealio was reserved for tourists. The horse-sh*t avoidance may have led to the development of bull-sh*t protectors, as an adult.;)

Yeah come on Greenland. Whats holding you back.
I hope we did not get any votes from... errrrr... Eurasia:
According to Europe, Turkey belongs to Middle East; according to the Middle East, Turkey is European, that is why many Turkish people struggle to identify themselves. So most Turkish people identify themselves as Turkish, neither Middle Eastern nor European.
Turk; a person who is married according to Swiss civil law, punished according to Italian criminal law, gets prosecuted according to the law of German Criminal Procedure, administered according to French administrative law, and buried in accordance with Islamic law.

Given that it is midnight now, I have spent too much time watching these photos :)
Another midnight, about a week ago, at a nearby train station looking north:

Speaking of Solna. Here their musical pride, Nomads from Solna.

One of Sweden's best rock bands, I think. I saw them a number of times when I lived in Stockholm. Nice rock memories.:)

We went for a walk in the Melbourne CBD yesterday to look at the Christmas decorations.

It was the most half-hearted, lame Christmas ever. I see more Christmas spirit in Kuala Lumpur, and that's in a Muslim country! I think it's because Melbourne has been taken over by rabid Christmas haters. I am an atheist, and to me Christmas has no religious meaning. The meaning of Christmas for me is entirely secular - it is a time to get together with your loved ones and forgive everything that happened in the past. And of course, to eat a heck of a lot of yummy food. And nothing gives me more joy than to see other people being happy - which is why the lame Christmas celebration in Melbourne was so disappointing.
