New ASR logo proposal

Context, regular reviewer of visual branding designs, so excuse the very direct feedback: Got to say, it’s all a bit motherboard logos from 2015 for me, which screams “tech!”, but that overwhelms any other message? The ASR brand is also about objectivity and civil discussion and respect. Can you revisit the overall concept to match the visual tone to the brand ethos more, while keeping elements of the tech-forwardness?

Keep the current one. It's distinct.
I can't recall any logo that resembles it much and that's a good thing for recognition, which is the point of having a logo!
Am more in line with this thought, I know the ASR logo from others....the suggested one just looks like a bunch of others....

If anything represents ASR to me its psychoacoustics, blind tests and DSP. The current proposals feel too rigid or straight edged to represent ASR. Anything that could portray sound waves bouncing around a room, our mind interpreting it and DSP controlling it would be bang on in my opinion.

Yep, A is similar.

But the feel to me is different.
Funny story: immediately after the new KIA logo started showing up on the streets, Google trends recorded a spike in searches for terms along the lines of "what is a KN car".

This is what comes to mind with V1A. I quite like V1B. Good job.

Exactly! A balance is needed.

Something like this is inviting..

more then this....(beautiful logo nontheless)

Don't know if you have heard of or played MOBA games. There is the debate what game is best Dota 2 or Leage of legends. Dota 2 is much more complicated, higher learning curve, more nuanced and I dare to say more skill is required, but....Leage has vastly more players. Similar to Path of Exile vs Diablo games.
avoid the 666 implementation like Cern

I used an online gallery of such logos for hire. Wanted something that conveyed something technical (hence the gear shapes). And that when made extremely small as to show up in the browser tabs, it would still be recognizable. And had to be cheap. :) I also liked the colors as it gave me a pallet to choose from when creating other content.
I also like that we have the “sacred” audio triangle involved in there, too. ;)

Another idea could be to rework/enhance the given logo (which definitely has its flaws). Result could be a more simple, clean and more »focused« version:

Brighter colors or even totally new colors could be next:

V1B in orange, strong, simple, and refers to technology right away.
Really good job!

very nice work indeed!

to me, the logos are looking a bit too hard/technical in the sense i wouldn't associate them with something audio related.
so i would go for the first variation with a simpler approach to the three letters.

cheers

The "first look" is key for such a thing.

The first version reads to me, on first look, as some odd M or something like that. The color does not break up the form enough. If I have to think about it, and if many others have the same take, that's a problem.

V1B reads as ASR on first glance. I do have bit of an issue with the top of the S and the R aesthetically, where they intersect, but that doesn't break up my "read" at all.

Regardless this idea will be taken or not, I respect the good intention and efforts to give contribution to community.

Thank you! I really have no agenda here.

Right now I'm enjoying listening to my new E3s on the Topping E70/L70, none of which I would have been aware of if it wasn't for Amir and the ASR community. I'm no expert in audio, so this is a way for me to contribute, regardless of what happens in the end.

You are very welcome. It was good chance to me to look at the current logo as well. It looks it is quite representative symbol meaning sum of science and review.

Nice thread and nice work.
If there is consensus that we actually want to update the current logo - and I'm cheerfully on the fence here - I vote 1B. Looks sharp.

As a comment, the designs illustrate and reinforce the 'science' bit nicely. Looks clean and (somehow) analytical. I'm not getting much reference to audio though. To be fair, the sheep doesn't do that either :)

Who knew we had so many talented “Designers” here.

In the end it’s a question of is it something that Amir is interested in changing. If so, set the desired outcome and let the people that do this stuff for a living get on with what they’re good at.

I get this all the time at work so I’m probably being over sensitive. I come here for a break from the Dunning-Kruger effect :D
