But you could just attach another XLR to that to bridge the gap, right? At least that's what I had been thinking
i used to use other balanced cables as extension to connect this splitter to 750s but i prefer diy longer split cables for better result.

Below is a waveform of an example sampled kick-drum sound. Even looking at it in the time domain, it seems to be largely dominated by the presence of a single frequency of high amplitude.

Below is the FFT spectrum of the above waveform. This looks to be far from what would be expected had the kick drum pulse been broadband in nature. There is a dominant peak at 61 Hz, with a smaller peak at 90 Hz or so.

@dweeeeb2 was talking about snare drums.

Thanks for the great example. There are 2 sine oscillators, one triangle (=sine + overtones) + 2 more through frequency shifters. That's a lot of sine frequencies for one drum.
In addition you have a more noise like broadband signal from the wires - but this is a very random signal (like noise) and for sure doesn't care about impulse response of a speaker.

"Feasible" doesn't exactly sound like optimistic wording to me, especially since those distances are on the outer extremes of the "recommended" distances.

I doubt Neumann would mention the feasible distances if they actually had an serious detriment to the sound though.

What would be the best measurements to use that could show the distance the woofer and tweeter no longer "integrate" well together I wonder, when it comes to extreme nearield?

I would say "feasible" for monitoring means "optimal" for recreational listening of an already EQed, compressed and limited material

Hi! So what about KH 120 ii vs KH 150? Whats the difference apart from price, cone size, and tiny lower frequency response?
The price difference is quite huge compared to the differences?
Or am I missing something?

Thanks

The pricing is typical. Just look at the JBL 7 series.

Not really, €630 difference each, see screenshots from Thomann EU
On thomann.de the Genelec 8340A is about 67% more expensive than the Genelec 8330A, and that is similar to the about 77% between the two Neumann monitors.

The 8340A plays louder than the 8340A as well as a bit lower frequency. Has a larger woofer and amps, but same DSP, and a larger cabinet.

The larger cabinet is the biggest single factor in pricing.

So your opinion on this, would it be worth the price difference with the larger cabinet?
5.25 inch vs 6.5 inch woofers.
The power is almost identical.

Thanks

There was a summer sale where the KH150 was significant cheaper. I would say they make pretty good money with that sale price ...
The selling segment is different. KH120ii must be in the range of KH120 buyers. Main monitors for smaller (home) studios or Atmos speaker where you need a bunch of them. KH150 is for bigger studios and Atmos main speakers - you only need 3 of them for that. So let's take a little extra for that ...

i eventually choosed 120ii over 150 & 310 based on below factors:
* budget;
* spl (80db) and listening distance (around 2 meters);
* same functions and power amps;
* to use with 750 subs;
* it's possible to continue to use the stands i ordered for kh80 (for 150 or 310, i have to order new stands which are quite expensive);
* smaller looks cute and don't block my view too much. ;)

The story is, I will definitely add 1 or 2 750s subs, so combined with the sub or subs, I just need spl in this case.
My listening position is 1 meter, and the room is more or less 3m x 6m.
I like to listen/produce loud, im doing techno music, so for me mainly is if the spl is enough before going into distortion.

To give an example, I pushed the KH 310 without subs, and I felt them struggling with low frequency heavy music.

Thanks
