Hello,

Purchased one of these and seems that while the ad says that they work with pretty much all amps, doesn't work well with my Hypex NC400 amp. Not enough sensitivity. Guessing the extremely low output resistance of this amp may have something to do with it. Tried two of these and same results.
Any suggestions? Tried wiring them in series with the speakers as well as directrly accross the wire going to the speakers, per the instructions. Not much difference.

Also, a suggestion. While love the idea of the changing colors available, would be great if could get the deep dark Marantz VU meter blue. Gets somewhat near, but nowhere as deep or nice a blue.

Regards,
Greg
Hello, you can try using the "M/D" button on the remote control to switch to "D" mode. At this time, the VU meter will flash twice, and then check if it will better meet your expectations.

I've yet to hook mine up to amps yet as I'm still working out some amp logistics, but I have it setup just for effect with the MIC and I agree that the VU meter blue is okay, but not quite what folks are after in regards to a blue lit VU meter.
Do you want to display a pure blue effect? When we first designed this product, we actually tried a white dial, but it didn't look very good when the lights were turned off. In the end, we chose a light yellow dial. Later, we will send out pictures of the effect of the white dial. We welcome your suggestions. Thanks.

Hello,

Yes, have tried holding the M/D switch, not much if any difference at all. Sensitivity slightly changes, but the action of the meters is still barely moving.

Just joined ASR after reading this thread. This is my little ongoing project - I repurposed a real walnut veneered case from an old Sony 8 track and the ET30 slides in perfectly. Just need to fabricate a faceplate from something to finish it off. Matches my Sansui AU 555a and TU 666 perfectly !

Good evening everyone,
I would like to know if it can be connected directly to the amp outputs (use only the VU METER).
I think it's called connecting it in "parallel"
Thank you

Great looking toy. I use a manual switch so I can run my floor standers (recapped RF-7s) with either my 2.0 amp or as the fronts for my AVR. Only problem is I must reach around to the back of my setup to make the change. No big deal, but it is a small inconvenience. Then I found this by accident on Amazon. I know, I know, the meters are just for show, but I am enamored of this eye candy.

I will order today, using the 20% coupon, and AZs no interest payment. I'll know by next weekend if this is my new toy. One of the reviews on Amazon mention that Amir had reviewed it favorably, so I came back here and did my search, 14 pages later, I am ordering! Thanks everyone, for you input! What fun!

Beautiful, this looks great!

Took all of 45 minutes to unbox and set up. I already had a mechanical amp switch for my speakers with full banana plugs. This toy works perfectly and looks cool. I got the 20% off from AZ, so I call it a deal! Thanks to all!

A blue dial like this:

Are there IR codes listed for this device? I didn't keep the manual

Sorry for the long update. The white VU meter we previously made is missing. We have asked the factory to make a new white VU meter. The following pictures show the effects of not turning on the light, turning on the white light, and turning on the blue light. Would you like the white VU meter or the light yellow VU meter?

Really? I could have sworn that was an old Marantz case.
Anywho it looks awesome, I love it.
Enjoy

Thanks. The case is from a Sony TC228 which sadly doesn't power up anymore
One question, what's the component on the right of the meters with the round dial?
I'm guessing it's a tuner but I don't recognize it.
